@loopylin
I think about it too much every time. This is the reason very few characters in my story actually have names, and I only have one country name, and the book isn’t titled….- This reply was modified 1 year, 10 months ago by Gwyndalf the Wise.

(Part of) Isaiah 45:19January 13, 2023 at 5:45 pm #129059@loopylin That one about characters…..
For me, it would say, “I love my characters but they always get a limb chopped off or a couple of teeth missing or an eye slashed out by the end of everything”…..
I’m really violent to them, sadly.
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.
January 13, 2023 at 5:51 pm #129060lol, same. None of my stories are titled and many of my characters are just called something like “lifeguard dude” or “nerdy best friend”. My character Aurivis was just called “dragon mentor guy” for a really long time. I was finally forced to name him when I added him to the character castle. XD

And Aurivis is a good name, especially if he’s a golden dragon…he is right?

XD
Same, or they get named according to their relation to the character’s I’ve already named. Like so-&-so’s parents, so-&-so’s obnoxious fruit-selling uncle, etc.
Occasionally, they’ll be given filler normal people names… but then those stick and I’m like “….WHAT HAVE I DONE? This is supposed to be fantasy… *sigh*”- This reply was modified 1 year, 10 months ago by Gwyndalf the Wise.

(Part of) Isaiah 45:19January 13, 2023 at 6:36 pm #129074@gwyndalf-the-wise Yeah, it’s so hard to name characters! I looked for WEEKS before I found the name Jareth, which fit my character quite well. But then I waited a while more before I asked my brother if he liked the name, since it was our joint character. Fortunately he agreed.
I also remember reading about one character who was named after some writer, whose last name was Darman. This became the character’s placeholder name. But apparently it stuck, and he retained that name throughout his book series. And it’s a pretty cool name, so……

XD Yeah, I end up either finding them and being like “WOAH THAT’S EPIC” or end up with placeholders that stick…*looking at you, Derek*…or end up only knowing what they look like and what their relation is to the characters that are named or their place in the story."...I did not say to the seed of Jacob, 'Seek Me in vain..."
