@ellette-giselle what would you like me to discuss first?
"…but we are safe, truly and wonderfully safe, when we keep walking with Him.”
January 22, 2026 at 11:48 am #210157Well, here’s a question, if you’re willing to answer it, why are these things close to you? Like, different topics are important to different writers. I was curious why these are important to you. (I feel like we even glimpse some of them in the Broken and Redeemed Trilogy)
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music
January 22, 2026 at 11:52 am #210158I have a lot of family that have lived through abuse, seen addiction or were addicted, have dealt with homelessness, were neglected, etc. There are a lot of family members that have had to make/are making the choice to be the chain breakers, and I’ve watched as a lot of them have spent their whole life trying to heal from the brokenness that remains, and how hard it can be to break those chains.
Mental health is also one that’s important to me because again, a lot of family have wrestled with their mental health (myself included ?).
For human trafficking, it’s been a topic that’s become more near to me recently as I’ve looked more and more into it and heard survivors’ stories
"…but we are safe, truly and wonderfully safe, when we keep walking with Him.”
January 22, 2026 at 11:56 am #210159I believe bringing awareness to such issues can help others see how damaging those things are, but also help them see that the things they have lived through/endured don’t have to define who they are or who they have to become, something many family members and even myself, have had to learn and walk through.
I think bringing awareness to such issues helps us see how the victims of those things need justice, that the innocent need to be protected, and that evil does indeed flourish in our world and that we need those who are willing to take a stand to do something about it
"…but we are safe, truly and wonderfully safe, when we keep walking with Him.”
January 22, 2026 at 11:58 am #210160That makes sense! I’m glad that a Christian author is choosing to address these issues. They do need to be addressed, just not in a way that destroys innocence, glorifies it in a twisted way, or is just unnecessarily graphic.
And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who couldn't hear the music
January 22, 2026 at 11:58 am #210161It’s kinda both a way to show the victims that they are seen and a spur to action that such injustices need to come to an end
"…but we are safe, truly and wonderfully safe, when we keep walking with Him.”
January 22, 2026 at 11:58 am #210162and yes, people also need to be able to see the hope and the way to a new life which will only come through redemption in Christ.

I wholeheartedly agree. That’s one reason why KC is going to be 18+, will have a content warning at the beginning of each book, and won’t glorify such horrendous actions.
The overly graphic violence and other things are hinted at and discussed but kept off page.

Exactly. In my adult books I do give reference to it, but some things just don’t need to be shown. It doesn’t do anything for the story and is only there for sensation, you know? I addressed an issue of a girl who was abused by a gestapo officer, but my M.C. found out about it by talking to her older brother, not by seeing it happen or me writing the girl’s P.O.V.
So yeah, it’s often necessary to make reference to such things, but not always necessary of good to show it. (in fact, it rarely is)

January 22, 2026 at 12:08 pm #210168@ellette-giselle It is very rarely necessary to show it. I believe such topics can be handled with grace and truth without having to be graphic about it.
There’s mainly 1 main character in KC that such topics are handled a lot, but I still do my best to keep it from getting graphic at all or getting too heavy.
But I have to discuss it with his story because it’s a huge part of what he’s endured and he (sadly) lets it partially define who he is

January 22, 2026 at 12:11 pm #210170Atm it’s hard to say? I think maybe, maybe I’m looking at a Spring 2027 release for the 1st book…though potentially earlier if I can get things finalized ?

January 22, 2026 at 12:12 pm #210171I could potentially share a snippet of the first chapter here if y’all wanted though?
"…but we are safe, truly and wonderfully safe, when we keep walking with Him.”
January 22, 2026 at 12:12 pm #210172ack! So long to wait! I’m excited to read these. Do you have a cover artist/designer? Will you have it illustrated?
is your signature a quote from your book by any chance?!

January 22, 2026 at 12:13 pm #210173and yes! I’d love a snippet. But only if you want to share it.
