By Olivia Giordano
It’s as crystal clear as glass
Everyone’s hiding behind a mask
In desperation
Striving for perfection
Broken
Torn
Shattered in a million pieces
The judging never ceases
Words laced with pain
All I feel is shame
I will never be perfect
In this unending conflict
It’s all a lie
We cannot cry
Afraid
Our friends will fade
If we start
Opening our hearts
But beautiful is broken
I will not be shaken
I don’t want to hide behind lies
I want to defy
The world’s deceitful picture of perfection
And instead be a broken, humble servant
To be a picture of love
Serving my King above
Though ruined
For grace I was destined
I can finally say my soul
Is healed and whole
Good job, Olivia.
Thank you, Daeus!
Only when we accept our brokenness can we be whole. 🙂 Keep it up, Liv!
Yes, that is what I’ve been learning, Gabby. God is really amazing, using the broken for his glory. Thanks, Gabby!

Beautiful! It has such a good rhythm that it would go well with music!
Thank you Rebekah! I’m musical, but I’m not sure if I could compose anything for it. 😉 That would be pretty cool though.
I don’t often care for poetry, but this honestly touched me. So deep and and beautiful. Wow.
Yes, I don’t often care for poetry either, but when I get the inspiration, the words just need to be written. Thank you so much for saying that. I am glad it touched you. It means a lot to me that it was so meaningful to you.
This is beautiful, Liv! It’s so true as well, unfortunately. It was so short but so full of impact, good work.
It is true. That is what makes it so sad. This is a crazy big struggle for me, but I really want to act like who I really am, not hiding my imperfections. But it’s so hard!! Thank you so much. I am glad it impacted you.
That is amazing. So sad and beautiful…I love the rhyming, and your choice of words.
I am so glad it resonated with you. I’m so glad the word choice and rhyming seemed right! This is definitely encouraging me to keep writing more poems in the future.

Did I write that? *looks back* *coughs* I can only say that it was God working through me. He is amazing. Thanks so much, Hannah!
