    @Alia I’m just moving here ’cause I don’t wanna sabotage the Writer’s Corner…

    Yay that you love the song!

    Eh, extra time is ever elusive. I guess that’s better than not having anything to post though. ;P How long have you been a blogger, and how long have you had that blog up?

    • @emma-flournoy plus moving here makes it easier to keep track of what on earth the conversation is about

      Have you ever listened to Where Were You by Francesca Battistelie?

      I think I started my writing blog about a year and a half ago. Broken journey was at the end of May.

      Do you have a blog? Or does that fall under you not being a writer?

      • Quite.

        I haven’t, but I will now.

        I don’t have a blog, but not because I’m not a writer. I think it’d be fun (and educational, and hopefully useful to others) to blog, I just don’t have time. If I had one, it would probably be a mish-mash of book and movie rantings, telling people to go read Kate’s books, music stuff, general life/spiritual stuff, and *drumroll* healthy recipes. Dramatic, I know. My family urges me to start a Trim Healthy Mama (that healthy-eating-plan, if you’ve heard of it—some of us do that) blog because I’ve had a fair amound of success in coming up with healthy recipes of unhealthy things, and it would be great to be able to share those with other peeps, but alas…I do seriously not have time to blog. I dunno if it’ll ever happen, but if it did, I’d have to make sure to do some booky stuff too. I couldn’t have an outlet like that and just NOT. ;P

        Do you live in Australia? Or… somewhere. I seem to remember you being not-in-the-U.S., but I can’t remember where exactly.

          • @emma-flournoy, hey, sorry for not getting back to you til now, this past week has been a bit crazy at my house.

            thats the thing I like about my blog is that I can post something whenever I have time.

            your idea for what you blog would be sounds like something I would read all the time

            Nope, I live in the States. It seems as though I get asked that question a lot on here.

            • That’s fine, and totally no pressure, I just wanted to make sure you’d seen it. I’ve found that the notification system isn’t entirely reliable sometimes. ;P

              Yaaay for flexibility.

              Oh, well that’s an encouraging thought. ;D

              Huh. I wonder why I thought that.

              So your life’s been crazy, eh? Mine too. Seems a generally recurring theme the older I grow. *headdesk* When I was little I had such ignorance of responsibility. As I’m sure most kids do. So little to worry about. But fulfilled responsibility I think is always a better feeling than a carefree life with lots of… no responsibility. *cough* Something like that. I’ve found that I have to surrender ‘my time’ to God very often to be able to not be driven to despair when life’s really busy, like, so busy—and full of issues, underlying or otherwise—I don’t humanly know how I’m possibly going to deal with all this in a good fashion. It works, until I accidentally start thinking about it again as MY time, and then I have to let go all over again. I’m sure you understand. I really don’t like human nature. Do you have any strategies you’ve found particularly helpful for keeping your head up in the river (*choke* torrent) of life?

            • @emma-flournoy,

              I wonder, could the reason that our lives keep getting busier as we get older be at all related to the fact that older people have more responsibility? Mind-blown
              It’s strange, I watch my little sisters act as though the day is so long and I’m over here thinking that there isn’t enough time in the day to actually get anything done.
              I totally get. When we think in terms of me or mine life gets crazy and out of control, but when we realize that it is all His, well even if it is crazy we have the peace and patience to deal with it.
              I find that if I purposefully make time throughout the day to read a verse of scripture here and there it helps me focus more on what actually needs my focus instead of whatever I feel like doing at the moment. Does that make sense?

            • I know, really. O.o Such shocking revelations.

              Precisely that. And in that I fervently hope and pray they relish it while they can, ’cause it sure as sartin’ ain’t gonna last forever.

              That makes a lot of sense. I read my Bible early in the morning before the day really starts, but I think a here-and-there throughout the day would be good to add as well. I know how much it really redirects focus when I actually do it. I’ve tried to memorize more as well, that way they’re in my head a lot, but though I’ve gone in spurts and memorized several verses/short passages at times, I can never seem to stay at memorizing more consistently. And maintaining all that I have memorized.

            • @emma-flournoy

              My mom printed of a ton of bible verses a few years ago and she puts them all over the house. So thats one way that I am able to read scripture all day

            • Oh yeah, that’s awesome. We do have a lot of that too; sometimes I’m so used to them I don’t really stop and read them anymore, so that could well be a problem. What’s your favorite passage or section? It’s nigh on impossible to choose, I know, and that’s an impossible question, so just, what’s one of your favorites. ;P

            • Thats the downside of having them up all the time, but my mom changes them every now and then so that keeps me looking at them some times.

              One that I often turn to is Psalm 71:1-6

              In you, Lord, I have taken refuge;
              let me never be put to shame.
              In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me;
              turn your ear to me and save me.
              Be my rock of refuge,
              to which I can always go;
              give the command to save me,
              for you are my rock and my fortress.
              Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
              from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel.
              For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord,
              my confidence since my youth.
              From birth I have relied on you;
              you brought me forth from my mother’s womb.
              I will ever praise you.

              I first “stumbled” upon this one when a close family friend died suddenly. Now I come to it whenever I need comfort or encouragement.
              What about you?

            • That’s a great one. One I find helpful is Ecclesiastes 3:1-15.

              To everything there is a season,
              A time for every purpose under heaven:

              2 A time to be born,
              And a time to die;
              A time to plant,
              And a time to pluck what is planted;
              3 A time to kill,
              And a time to heal;
              A time to break down,
              And a time to build up;
              4 A time to weep,
              And a time to laugh;
              A time to mourn,
              And a time to dance;
              5 A time to cast away stones,
              And a time to gather stones;
              A time to embrace,
              And a time to refrain from embracing;
              6 A time to gain,
              And a time to lose;
              A time to keep,
              And a time to throw away;
              7 A time to tear,
              And a time to sew;
              A time to keep silence,
              And a time to speak;
              8 A time to love,
              And a time to hate;
              A time of war,
              And a time of peace.

              9 What profit has the worker from that in which he labors? 10 I have seen the God-given task with which the sons of men are to be occupied. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

              12 I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, 13 and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God.

              14 I know that whatever God does,
              It shall be forever.
              Nothing can be added to it,
              And nothing taken from it.
              God does it, that men should fear before Him.
              15 That which is has already been,
              And what is to be has already been;
              And God requires an account of what is past.

              And Psalm 5:11-12 is extremely encouraging.

              But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
              Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
              Let those also who love Your name
              Be joyful in You.
              For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
              With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
