@dekreel
Hi Dekreel,
This is really hard for me to write, because I don’t want you to get the impression that I’m upset with you in any way. Just that I need to explain something to you to keep my conscience clean before God.
I don’t know how much you’ve read of what I’ve been saying around the forum, because I purposefully did not criticize on your story topic. 🙂 But I feel like I really have to tell you I have conscience problems with being called an “evil overlord” and controlling a troll.
I absolutely love everything else about the story, and would be glad to continue in it, but I’m going to have to ask you to either take me out or change the troll to some other creature. One reason I have for this is that trolls come from the ancient Norse culture, and translating the word “troll” you get the word “demon.” I believe Christians can cast out demons in the name of Christ, but should not be involved with them in any other way.
Do you think it would be possible to just keep the story the same and change the word “troll” to something else fictional you come up with in the same way you came up with “chasm beast?”
Remember, please, that I’m not offended or angry at all. Just trying to keep my own conscience clean, since your beliefs happen to be different from mine. If I didn’t explain things well, or if you want to talk about it, please ask.
Blessings,
Rochellaine
@rochellaine I never tried to say you were an EVIL overlord! Just that the troll was a henchman!
I understand. I knew nothing about the etymology of “troll,” so I am very sorry. I didn’t know you had such strong feelings against them! The reason I added a “troll-thing” was because of Snapper’s LOKD. She coined them as cliched henchmen.
I’ll see what I can do. Although this will be difficult because everyone else who has read the KPA seems to love him. So I can’t just take him out. And I don’t want to take YOU out either because #1: I love your character and everyone else seems to like her, too, and #2: I have more plans, which, fortunately, don’t involve the troll. 😉
*thinks it over…* Okay, I think I know what to do 🙂
Just to let you know, I’m going to keep calling him a troll, but after I’m done with him, I promise I won’t associate you with trolls ever again afterwards. He shall be gone within two or three installments.
Once again, I’m sorry. Thank you for telling me. 🙂
Oh, well, you actually did have Jane call me specifically an “Evil Overlord.” If you reread it you’ll see that. It was a joke, but since the whole thing is a joke, it’s not that obvious, and I don’t like being called evil even in a joke, sorry. 🙂 Do you think you could ask Ben to take out that one word from when he puts it on the KP lit site?
Okay, that sounds fine. Just try not to get me too close to the troll in the next few installments before he leaves, if possible? 🙂 Thanks so much for being understanding!
(By the way, there is actually one other person who agrees with me about trolls. It’s Ariel Ashira. 🙂 )
I count it really as my fault, since I should have thought to mention this to you in the first place. But it’s fine now. Thanks so much!
@rochellaine I DID? Oh, wow. I am SO sorry! I wasn’t trying to say YOU were evil… Oh I don’t know… I’m sorry!! Yes, I’ll ask Ben 🙁
Gotcha. I’ll see what I can do. 😉
So I’ve noticed. I’ll try to keep her away from trolls, too.
Well, you didn’t know you were going to be paired up with a troll in the first place, I guess
