Hey girlies! Welcome to the get to know you party! *blowsbubblesandballoonseverywhere* You two know each other right? 😉 Great! (Rolena hands out ice cream. You both like ice cream, no?!) There, now that the party’s been started, it’s time for the games to begin. By games I mean, I’d love to get to know you girls better! So… Where did you two meet? How long have you each been writing? Are you currently writing a book? And what’s your favorite book (or books 🙂 to read? Also what’s your favorite animal. (Mine’s a black squirrel! So much cuteness!!)

    • Hurray! My first guest has arrived! *surriesaroundtryingtolookbusyashostessofthisparty* Well you may have ALL the chocolate ice cream that you’d like here! (I’m more of a vanilla bean/strawberry girl myself 😉 ) Awww!!! That’s so great you’ve been friends since then <3 Lemme guess that if you've been can't remember a time when you weren't writing that you have a very vivid imagination. *nodsempetically* I didn't really start writing until I was ten, but I created so many stories with my wild imagination growing up, it was only natural to start writing them down once I could contain my energy enough to sit at a desk 😉 Ooo… perfectionism… many a writer's burden. Just know that there's always time after it's written to go back and change it. I often have to remind my inner editor that. What's your book about, may I ask??? (I'm always curious what other authors are up to 🙂 ) You do have quite the list of authors listed on your profile! I've never heard of Erynn Mangum. I'll have to look her up. Which books have you read by her? Hehehe. I should've guessed your favorite animal to be a horse (just had to glance at your profile pic to guess that XD) Oh, and I have a skunk family living in my shed! (I so wish they were de-stinked though!)

      • Opps. A couple of mistypes in that last comment 🙂 Typing too fast I guess. Oh! And is that you in your profile picture?? @holly-nelson-gray Also, I’m sending your sister Trinity an email right now about her account 😉 I figured when I saw her application that you two were sisters!

    • *mouthhangsopen* That’s awesome! My mom grew up riding horses, but I’ve barely sat on top of one for more than ten minutes. I also have a friend who’s training to be an Olympic rider. I love watching people ride though! Do you compete?

    • /Sci-Fi Dystopian. It’s about these 10 kids/ Nice! Those 10 kids must be the multiple characters you were talking about that you’ve been character profiling. That is a lot of characters! But that means you’ll have lots of different and fun personalities to work with! Do you have one main character who’s the prime narrator?
I shall have to look this Erynn Mangum up. 🙂 Because I’m working on a contemporary YA piece right now and could definitely use some inspiration from other authors.
Haha! Yeah, my mom’s not so sure that it’s cool XD But what can you do about it? It’s not like we can go ask the skunk family to pretty please pack up and move to the nearby creek. My sister and I were doing a photo session (it was to update some of my bio pics, cause mine are getting really outdated) a couple days ago and she wanted me to pose by the shed that the skunk lives in. I did. But I was praying the whole time “please don’t let the skunk come out!”. My sister had me sit right by the hole the skunk mama crawls through XD Thankfully the skunk didn’t come out, but the pictures didn’t turn out either. I think I look worried :p It is too bad that skunks stink though, cause they are pretty cute! So, if you ever visit the US, you’re welcome to come see our family of skunks. 🙂

Okay, I know that Emily replied to this (cause my email notifications say so) but her reply hasn’t show up on the KP screen yet. 🙁 I’ll see if I can get that reply here… But while I’m working on that… I see you both are working on a dystopian book. I know I’ve recommended this author to Emily, but you should check her out too, if you haven’t, Holly. Nadine Brandes! http://nadinebrandes.com/ She has written a dystopian trilogy called Out of Time series. I’ve read her first and second book and am part why through the third. Lemme tell ya, there REALLY good books. REALLY good. She’s a Christian author and I actually had the chance to meet her at a writer’s conference I attended recently! I love the purpose she puts into her writings. Anyway, I thought it might be really good reading for you both, if you’re interested, since you’re working on the same genre. A little head’s up though… 🙂 Her books are very clean however there’s some mild violence (particularly in her first book) And there’s an awkward birth scene 🙂 I actually enjoyed the second book more than the first. But I still highly recommend the series. It’s high quality reading since she’s very purposeful about her characters faith and addressing real life issues in the story (addressed very well if I may add!) So there ya have it! If you’d like any more details concerning the book before you may read it, I’d be happy to let you more about it! (Also checking with your parents is never a bad idea before you read a new book 😉 )

    • Hey There!!!

      Avid reader and horse-lover here.

So sorry I’m late: but please don’t rub it in. Okay, fav authors: Sigmund Brouwer, Rosemary Sutcliff, Charles Dickens, Jane Austen, C. S. Lewis Mathew Harding, etc. Favourite books *checks Rolena’s temperature and pulse* Rolena, how can you have ONE favourite book??? I know I can’t! So, some of my tops: Winds of Light (Sigmund Brouwer), Chronicles of Narnia ( C. S. Lewis), Peleg Chronicles (Matthew Harding), Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen), The Eagle of the Ninth (Rosemary Sutcliff), Prophet (R. J. Larson), Wa-okay hit the pause button right there, or I will go on for HOURS. I’ve been writing for 3-4 years, on and off. I LOVE LOVE LOVE fiction, especially historical fiction and some fantasy. And for movies, one of my favourites in Jane Eyre (starring Timothy Dalton). Wow. I think I like books…

I love ice-cream, but I like gelato even better. 🙂

Okay, so, this is kinda random, (BTW, Rolena, I am very random, so be prepared. Just ask Holly. ;)) Do you like quad bikes?

      Hope to talk soon!!!

      • @emily-d She’s here!!! (brings in a couple of pounds of gelato) I’ve never had gelato before, but if someone likes it even better than ice cream, it’s gotta be great stuff!
Yay for books! I know it’s terrible to ask for just one! You have a great list there and I’m sure you could go on and on (me too! 😉 )
I am all for randomness! I’ll be honest, I had to look up what a quad bike was :p We call them four-wheelers around here, so I wasn’t sure haha! Yes I love quad bikes! We have two. My brother made a path in our grassy country side which I like to drive on in the summer. And I like to drive fast! So I take it you like quad bikes? 😉
So another horse lover… (should’ve guessed that by your profile pic too!) Do you ride a lot? Do you have your own horse?
I’m glad your reply showed up! I’m not sure what’s going on with my computer, cause I see one of Holly’s replies is missing here too 🙁 To bad I’m a writer and not a technician :p

        • Ooo and Emily… I read your previous missing reply in my emails and it said you’ve been published here on Kingdom Pen! Was that a short story, poem or something else? (I wanna go back and read it now that I personally know the author 😉 )

    • Hmm… @holly-nelson-gray This is odd. I’m checking into it.

    • It won’t let me post many words either 😀 Is it doing that just right here in the public messaging or on the main forum page as well?

    • Maybe there’s a limit to how much we can post in the comments under a personal profile update?!

    • Another thought, sometimes when I try to post in the forum, it won’t show up right away but will pop up like an hour later (slow processing I guess).
