Ok so I lied, I’m sorry 😭. But the fact that it’s taken me six months to get back here is inexcusable, I should be ashamed of myself… My family just moved out of state so my life has been crazyyyy and my writing has been on hold for the past couple months 😢. Not to mention I had an enormous tragedy occur last month when our new puppy managed to get ahold of one of my flash drives and chew it up… the same flash drive I save all my writing to… some of it I had backed up elsewhere but other pieces are lost. THANK THE LORD my main WIP wasn’t on there, but one of my short stories that was like 15 pages long (excuse the misuse of the term “short” story) is gone for good 🙁

Anyhoo, I’m ready to resume writing again and I’ll be floating around here for inspo and to see what’s going on with y’all 🙂

    • Aw thanks! I’m glad to be back!!!

Yes 😥. It’s sad the rest is gone, but I’m very thankful I have what I do!

I’m doing well thanks!! It’s been an adjustment living my whole life as a northerner and now transitioning to the south (don’t get me wrong though, I love it here!). I’m excited to see what God has in store for me these coming months 🙂

It’s great to hear you’re doing well! Ah yes of course, we’re writers, this is to be expected honestly… XD. I trust your belief in happy endings enough to know they won’t stay traumatized indefinitely 😌….. right?? 😂

    • 💖💖💖

I would have to agree!! Augh and people are so much NICER here, I love it 😂😂

Glad to hear it 😉😉 Mind giving me a mini update as to what you’re working on currently?? I remember your characters from a while back but understand that there’s a good possibility you’ve bounced around WIPs since then lol.

      • @freedomwriter76
        Agreed!!

Ahh ok, sweet! I haven’t done a lot with Raven’s Quest in the past few months 😢 (for the aforementioned reasons), but I’ve finished some short pieces I was working on, and I’ve been exploring condensed poetry forms. I actually made an insta account with some of my really short lines… it’s just for fun but it makes me feel accomplished XD

    • @freedomwriter76 Haha same. Yeah thx!

    • Hi @starishness!! Welcome back to KP! I’ve only been a member for a few months (though my number of posts my say otherwise XD). Anyway, I’m Esther: a volleyball-playing, violin-squeaking, dog-obsessed, God-loving, homeschooled, amateur writer!!
Now imma ask you some questions to get to know you better! 😀

      1. What’s your WIP about?
      2. Who is your favorite OC to write or just in general?
      3. If you could visit any country, where would it be and why?

Nice to meet you and hope to see ya around!!

      • Oops! Tagged ya wrong, @starshiness

      • @esther-c

Hiiii Esther, nice to meet you and thanks for the welcome! I’m glad to be back! Woohoo I love how this place is filled with homeschoolers, makes me feel at home hahah 😆

        1. My WIP is an allegorical fantasy novel called “Raven’s Quest” and it centers around a girl named Raven. The story opens with Raven learning that her Grandmother, her only living relative since her parents died, has contracted a seemingly incurable disease (aka sin). Raven is given a small seed of hope when she hears news about a master healer in faraway Parousia, who may have a cure after all. Raven embarks on a journey and along the way she is introduced to “the Great Archer” (aka Jesus). Following this life-changing meeting, Raven is sent on a mission that will test her newfound faith and determine how strong it really is. That is a very dull description bc it doesn’t tell HALF of what happens (or say anything about my perfect boy Keston…) but I’m not sure how else to summarize short of giving you the whole of my incomplete manuscript 😂.

        2. Augh it’s gotta be Keston. He’s a side character that I am not sUpPoSeD to adore over the main character but I may be more in love with him than Raven… (hehehe I’m totally in favor of shipping this couple🤣)

        3. Oooo well I’d have to say Scotland bc I’ve had the silliest lifelong dream of singing the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond (Scottish folk song I adore) while standing on the banks of Loch Lomond (yes I am a romantic at heart 😂).

Wbu?? I’d love to hear your answers to these questions as well! If this status page will hold all the replies that are bound to follow… XD

        • Yes! It’s awesome how many homeschoolers are on here!! 😀

That story sounds really cool!! I know what you mean by trying to summarize your book. XD Mine centers around a journey too, so a lot happens. 😁 (I’ll share what it’s about in a second post cuz it may be kinda long 😜)

Side characters seem to often steal the author’s heart, don’t they? 😉 XD He sounds really awesome!
My favorite character is Everton. He’s impulsive, can be snarky, occasionally a flirt, a dare devil, is really courageous, and acts self-confidence. (When in reality he struggles with thinking that he is a failure because his father made him think that and treated him like that pretty much his whole life. 😭)

Lol. Scotland sounds awesome! I personally would love to visit Ireland. 1) because of the scenery and ✨castles✨ 2) because of the locals’ accents 😆

(Stay tuned! Coming up next is the summary of my WIP. XD)

          • @esther-c Fr they do!! We just can’t help it 🥲

Aww he sounds so lovable! Nooo more charrie trauma 😭

Oh yes, the castles have gotta be amazing 🤩. I’ve toured a castle here in the states once before and it was sooo cool. YES the accents are so great, I love hearing different people’s accents hahah

        • So, it’s called The Endoxos Trilogy. Right now I’m working on book one titled Ember of Hope. Here’s the unofficial blurb for the whole trilogy:

They’ve been trapped inside The Orb for twenty years. It covered all of Aletheia. But it slowly closes in on the nation. The people stuck inside have no way to communicate to those outside. Families are separated. But the people have gotten used to The Orb. Until it is down to one district… only a few cities… Amidala Nadir is content with staying with her family in their corner of the district, but Everton Barlowe is determined to destroy the man who first placed The Orb over Aletheia. He joins a rebel group that is planning a coup on Bayron Len, the man who instituted the Orb. When the coup is performed successfully, a celebration is held throughout the city. But The Orb didn’t just disappear. Amidala was the only one who heard Len’s last words… and the truth is hidden in his riddle. Amidala and Everton understand enough of his puzzling statement that they know they have to take Len’s place. Len was holding back a much greater evil from corrupting their nation than they ever would have guessed. Will they be able to fulfill his role? Can they work together to push back the evil? They know what they must do, but it could cost their lives. Will they succeed? Or will the darkness subdue them all?

So there’s that! XD Now for the description of the first book. Basically, Ami and her family and Ev and his brothers have to escape the Orb. (For multiple reasons) Bayron Len’s last words were: “I know there’s a cure. Find it.” The group decides to head out searching for this cure, even though they aren’t sure what it is. (Don’t worry. They discuss it and I do my best to make it sound like a logical decision. 😂) Anyway, they end up figuring out where they need to go. All the while being chased by the corrupted government. (Even though my villain [the leader of the government] is one that I really enjoy writing. XD) That was a very un-detailed summary of it. A lot more happens, just like you were saying about your WIP. (Believe me, if you asked me to talk more about it, I could rant for a while. 🤣)

          • Girl this sounds amazing!! And there are even some parallels with my WIP too which I thought was cool haha, love that for us XD. I also gotta say, your names are soooo good, I love Aletheia for the name of a country and the way it’s spelled too 👌🏽👌🏽. To me the spelling of names is as important as the pronunciation so you have my approval lol!

            • Thanks so much!! That means a lot! 😊
The name Aletheia is Greek, actually, and it has to do with truth, because Aletheia was founded on truth. By this point though, it has strayed drastically. 😅

            • Ofc! 💖
Oh really, that’s so cool! I love it when names in books have meanings behind them that relate to the story. In RQ, the allegorical equivalent for sin is a disease called Hathiat, which is amharic (the language from Ethiopia) for sin!

            • Cool!! I like using different languages for things in my WIPs!
