We’ve been talking about MBTI and Characterization a lot, so I’d thought I’d make an official topic. So how do you use MBTI for characterization? What personality type is your MC? My MC is an ENFP. 🙂
March 10, 2016 at 8:22 pm #9971Yay for MBTI! 🙂
Let’s see… my tally at the moment is an ISTJ, an ESFP, an ENFP, an ESFJ and an ISTP.
That’s not counting short stories and books I’m plotting. 😛
Anybody have a favorite type to write? I think I’ll have to go with ESFP for that one. 😉March 10, 2016 at 8:23 pm #9972I tried taking the test how I thought my MC would and he came out ENTJ and I went No! No, that is not right. I’ve never tried guessing actually.
My mom was looking at a personality type today and went into hysterics over it. That gave me the idea that starting with a personality and keeping strictly to what they say about it would actually be a good way to write humor.

March 10, 2016 at 8:45 pm #9978What does MBTI mean? Something to do with personality I’m guessing, but what exactly?
INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.
March 10, 2016 at 8:49 pm #9980Myers Briggs Type Indicator. This will explain it: https://www.16personalities.com

March 10, 2016 at 10:34 pm #9989I love this topic! @gretald I’m an ENFP, with introverted tendencies.
My MC for my current WIP is…here, wait, let me check… an INFJ. Or so I say. I haven’t really stuck to strict guidelines so far, but maybe I should…
March 10, 2016 at 10:44 pm #9991Yup, the website confirmed: She’s an INFJ.
March 11, 2016 at 7:28 am #9993How did you confirm that? Did you just look at the description and match it?

March 11, 2016 at 8:26 am #9994@belegteleri, Yeah, me too. 🙂 MBTI is fascinating.
March 11, 2016 at 9:18 am #10000Hmm, apparently I’m ENTJ-A. The description wasn’t perfect, but it was fairly close.
INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.
March 11, 2016 at 10:11 am #10006March 11, 2016 at 10:43 am #10009This test is so amazing… can’t believe I haven’t heard of it before.
I just figured out that the MC of my first publishable work (yeah, the one that is currently high on my ‘I need to rewrite this piece of junk’ list) is an INTJ.
I don’t know why that makes me so happy, but it does. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😛 😉
March 11, 2016 at 12:02 pm #10015I’m an INFJ-A…how interesting.
A dreamer who believes in the impossible...and dragons. (INFJ-T)
March 11, 2016 at 4:50 pm #10022This is really weird. INFJs are supposed to be the rarest type, but they make up most of the people I know.
ENTJ, @hope? Cool! I didn’t think I knew any ENTJs. 😛March 12, 2016 at 12:06 pm #10033Hahaha… guess what guys, I just found out that one of my villains is an ESTP…
… and so is an incredibly vain pygmy dragon who belongs to one of my MC’s (Arianwen, @writefury— from the ‘Inter-genre Island’ thread) as a pet.
