@spradlin You asked us a while ago if we had any ideas for ways to make KP better. Well, I had a rather large idea, but I’m wondering exactly how it would work. I’ve been realizing how helpful it is to analyze books. I learn good writing techniques and also see what mistakes other authors have made so I can avoid them. Now, what came into my head is that if I was analyzing a book with other authors, we could glean from each other’s observations and each learn a lot more. This led to the idea that we could have a KP book of the month (or every other month or something). The first month we could all read it together and then the second month we could analyze it while we read the next one. We could use the forum for the analyzation part.
What I’m not sure about is how the book would be picked. There are two possible options. The first is that the forum people could vote on it. The second is that the KP administration could choose it. That would be a lot simpler, but I didn’t know if it was something y’all wanted to do.
Anyway, what do you think?

DUDE! DAEUS! This sounds fantastic. Basically a KP book club. I am a fan of this idea. *much nodding* Lemme talk to the other staffers about it and I’ll get back to you, but I don’t think this would be really difficult to do. It might be harder to do a book a month (that’s a ton of reading). What about more like just reading a chapter a week? We could all have Skype meetings to discuss them. We might could even get some of the authors to join in. 🙂

That sounds cool; depending on the size of the book, I could probably manage a book a month…or whatever you guys do. 😉

YEEEEESSSSS this would be so awesome! 😀 If we can, we should do like a book suggestion topic or somethin’ like that for submitting ideas for that.
I like the idea of a chapter a week.
I don’t know about others, but skype would be too much for me. First of all, our internet won’t currently support it, though we’re supposed to get unlimited soon. Also, I do better when I can just pop in and make a comment, take a break, and then come back again. That way I can take my time analyzing things bit by bit.
That would be cool if we could get some author involvement (for the live ones). The only thing I’m worried about is that we might end up tearing apart their masterpieces and making them look bad when they’re really amazing. Maybe we could interview them before we read their book or something?

@daeus this sounds fun! I would like to do this…but I’d probably just end up fainting and being incoherent about the awesomeness instead of actually analyzing. I do that sometimes. 😉
