If you got to be a screen writer for a movie, what type of movie would it be? And why? Animated, crime, action, romcom, etc.
For me it would 100% be Animated. I love animation, and it would be so cool to see a story I wrote in the colorful, imaginative world of animation.
There’s so much you can do in animation that you can’t do in live-action. I would have no boundaries for all the cool things I could put into the story! Unique settings, creative characters, epic action scenes, it would be so fun.
Plus, I wouldn’t have to worry about wonky CGI or atrocious acting. XD
So what about you? What type of genre of a screenplay of yours would you like to see on screen?
March 12, 2021 at 4:20 pm #95393For me it would totally be action. I adore all movies action/thriller/suspense/adventure/etc, and it would be sooo amazing to see one of my books in film.
Honestly, that’s how I imagine them already lolwhat we do in life echoes in eternity
-gladiator, 2000March 12, 2021 at 4:49 pm #95395Yes! An action film would be so cool. Do you have a novel or novel idea you think would go really well as an action movie?
March 12, 2021 at 5:32 pm #95400In my head, my WIP, Lioness, would be an amazing movie, but on paper… it needs some TLC, lol! Any clean, apocalyptic movie would be good imo. 😄
What about you? What story premise (idea or WIP) would you want to screen write?

First of all, I’m relieved to know I’m not the only one who dreams about seeing her novel in film. XD
Otherwise I would love to be a screen writer for a Hallmark romance. (I’m a total Hallmark geek.)
March 12, 2021 at 6:21 pm #95406@kathleenramm Yanhua would make a beautiful anime film, I think.
Yes, writing a screenplay for an animated film would be amazing, especially since you don’t have to worry about actors and things. But I think I’d be a good screenwriter for maybe like a drama or something. I think that The Mafia of Heather Flights would make a great crime drama, and 49 White Blossoms would be great for a slice-of-life/school/drama. For Blossoms, actually, I can see in my head just the kind of shots I would take…if only I were a director…
But, yes, I’ve read too much manga, watched too much anime, so probably the anime route. Or a live action that feels like an anime.
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
If hours don't turn into daysMarch 12, 2021 at 8:08 pm #95418In a very informal/unofficial way, I do make mini-movies. The most recent being an animated sword move and a book trailer I made for my WIP (they didn’t turn out half bad, but nothing to brag about a whole lot XD ).
Anyway, back on topic… I think The Snow Warrior would make an excellent action film (or whatever pacing was used in the Narnia films). In fact, (getting ahead of myself here), I’ve envisioned its trailer and how the actors would play out different scenes and all the things I wouldn’t be willing to compromise on with the directors. *Scratches head and grins* yeah, definitely getting ahead of myself a little.
But if I were a director (though actually, I’d rather be the actress that plays my heroine than be directing her), though I’d ideally want TSW to be live-action, I think I’d really enjoy directing animation. I’d especially be interested in being in the voices department with all the voice actors. That seems to be the most fun part of making an animation to me, hearing the characters come alive with voice. But the more I think about it, my first choice probably would be to direct live-action. Being able to instruct the actors on what emotions they should convey into the film and explaining small/necessary details and such sounds like a lot of fun:)March 12, 2021 at 8:24 pm #95419Probably action, but set in a specific culture. *continues to fangirl over Raya and the last dragon*

PIRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would definitely, without the shadow of a doubt be a pirate movie!!! Or, better yet, a TV series chronicling the lives of my precious piratical charries!!!!!!!
Of course, that makes it action/adventure, but there would HAVE to be lots of romance and a strong Christian message.
Have any of y’all ever seen Beyond the Mask? That’s the kind of movie I’d write! Except I couldn’t write a screenplay–I like narrative way too much! XD
March 17, 2021 at 11:50 am #95710@kathleenramm I’ve been thinking about this question ever since you posted it, partially because it’s such a good question, and partially because the one full-length screenplay I’ve written was about a Godfather-style fairy mafia. Title? The Godmother. You’re welcome. 😛
Nowadays, I think I would love to write a comedy, preferably one with some fantastical elements. Writing funny dialogue is just so nice, you know? But an epic adventure of some sort would probably be equally fun. We’ll see what happens.
(I agree with you though–animation is truly the best. Do you have a favorite animated movie/TV show? Forgive me if you’ve answered that already XD)

Oh, yes! A Pirate movie/Tv show would be so fun to write a screen play to. To see your swashbuckling story come to life on screen would be truly amazing.
I Think I watched Beyond the Mask a while back. What are some of your favorite things about the movie?
Mafia and Fairies? I’ve loved both for a long time, but it never occurred to me to combine them! That is definitely something I’d love to see a movie of.
Favorite animated film? It would have to be How to Train Your Dragon. I think it was the first film I watched in theaters, and it still holds up to this day. But some other favorites are The Incredibles, Into the Spider-Verse, and my siblings and I are currently watching all of the Studio Ghilbli films and I’ve really been enjoying them. I’m probably missing some of the greatest animated movies, but those are the first to come to my head. XD
What are some of your favorite animated films?
(Also, I really like your new profile pic)

@kathleenramm That would be amazing! Probably highly unlikely, but amazing!
I just loved the history and the excitement (and the romance). It was as good as a Hollywood film, but Christian and so clean! I wish there were more period films/shows that were at least clean, if not Christian.
March 18, 2021 at 11:19 pm #95873@lewilliams Haha that sounds like an awesome movie, I’d totally watch it! A fairy mafia, that’d be so interesting to see. The Godfather was such a good movie, the Irishman, similar, but less bloody and longer, also a fantastic movie!
March 20, 2021 at 1:34 am #95937@kathleenramm Definitely a historical movie! Not so much a period drama (not like in the style of any of the Jane Austen/Jane Eyre/romance movies) but more like a biopic (or those movies that aren’t about real people but kind of have the biopic style), I guess. I’ve always dreamed of making a movie about the Wright Brothers in particular! There’s so many historical figures I would love to make movies about!

March 21, 2021 at 12:23 pm #96003@kathleenramm Thank you! Maybe someday I’ll revisit that project–’twas a lot of fun to write the first time around.
All of those are excellent choices!! Now I want to rewatch HTTYD…I deeply regret not seeing any of the trilogy in theatres, but I was uncultured at the time, I suppose. I’ve wanted to start watching Studio Ghibli! My husband and I just finished playing one of the Professor Layton games, which has an incredibly Ghibli-ish art style. Would you recommend any particular films?
Hmm, do I have to choose? 😛 I’m particularly partial to Into the Spider-Verse as well, though The Emperor’s New Groove has to be my favorite. (Megamind is a close second, however.) I also like Tangled, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Big Hero Six… Okay, I need to stop or we’ll be here all day.
(And thanks!! It’s perhaps my favorite screenshot from the entire show, so I felt compelled to use it. :P)
