Living Water

By Daisy Torres

I am a droplet, heavy and hanging, until ever so gently, like a mother's soft singing, I'll help a bush meet light.

I am a puddle, small and nothing, but soon I'll have meaning when I nourish some life.

I am an ocean, wild and strong. Calling, calling--calling all lost sailors home.                                 Once you've seen me, like the others, you'll leave affected. For I'll stay in your memory, safe and protected.

I am a tear from a lover's closed eyes. Falling, falling--falling on her rose, nearby.

I am the whispered plea for mercy exhaled from your lips on a frost-bitten day, when the bush and the bird have all gone away.

And when your joy returns? I am the tear there, too--the tear shed from laughter--from joy, not grief.

And when all's said and done, I'll float away, silent, to some leaf where it sways, and bring life to a violet.

I am the sound of the Master's voice, whispering to the souls left alone. And when all time has reached its end?                                                                                                                                                            Well He'll be back--and our sound will call again. Calling, calling--calling His children home.

Daisy Torres

Daisy Torres is a South Texas American who is growing up on a farm. Prompted by her wild imagination, she now writes novels, short stories, and poetry. Although her love for words is great, her love for God is greater. She likes to Sketch scenes from the Bible and hang them on a yarn string on her wall. She has a dog named Lady who spends her days wrestling old socks and rope. When she's not making corny puns or doing school, she likes to learn languages she will likely never use, but imagines situations in which she will anyway. She self-published her first book on Amazon at 16 called Era of Shadows, which is an Alice in Wonderland retelling and could really use a reader.
