Hi!
I’ve known about Kingdom Pen for over six months now, but I’ve finally joined! I’m a writer, a Christian, an INFP, and I’m a little on the weird side. I write speculative fiction and fantasy, and I’m about 60k into my first real novel, which I started writing last summer. I also like art, The Lord of the Rings, and animals.
I’m excited to get to know everyone!
February 11, 2021 at 10:23 pm #92516Hello Wyn! I’m Abigail and welcome to Kingdom Pen! 😀
It’s great to have another KeePer here at the Kingdom:)60k? That’s amazing!
Btw what is your favorite kind of art? Painting? Collages? One of my favorites is sculpting. Do you have a favorite setting you like to write in? Favorite story? (I ask everyone those questions XD ).
It’s great to have you here at KP! 😀February 11, 2021 at 11:04 pm #92532Hi Abigail! Thank you so much!
I primarily like sketching with pencils, but I’ve also dabbled in painting (though I’m not fantastic at it) and I’ve done a bit of sculpting for an art class at school. Most of the time I just write from my bedroom, but during the summer I spent a lot of time at my grandparents cottage, which meant I got to write in a sun room with a view of the river outside.
What kind of sculpting have you done?

Hi, I’m Joy Caroline! I’m an INFP (Mediator) as well!!
Wow, 60k words! That’s insanely good! I love art, too, especially pencil sketching. And I’m not that great at painting, either, much to my art teacher’s sadness. XD
I write Biblical fiction and have two WIPs: The Apostle’s Sister, a novel about St. Paul from his younger sister’s perspective. And The Anointed, about St. Paul from the perspective of his youngest nephew (his sister’s adopted son).
It’s great to meet you! I can’t wait to get to know you better!!
February 12, 2021 at 12:07 am #92537That’s so cool:) My favorite kind of pencils are graphites, I’m not all that great with colors yet. As for sculpting, I usually just sculpt whatever idea hops into my head XD So far mostly unicorns, horses, and Spirit Riding Free characters. Normally with DAS clay or polymer.

Hi Joy! Thanks!
That’s so cool that your’re writing Biblical fiction! I’ve never really considered that before. What inspired you to tell the stories from the perspectives of Paul’s sister and nephew?
It’s great to meet you too!
That’s really awesome! Horses and unicorns sound like fun to sculpt!

Thank you!
I love reading about Paul as I find him very inspirational. While reading the book of Acts, I noticed a widely forgotten verse (23:16). It’s the one that states Paul had a sister and a nephew. And not only that, but the nephew literally saves his life. I started really wondering about the sister and nephew, since the Bible never even tells us their names. And judging from how Paul speaks strongly about family relationships (1 Tim. 5:2, 5:8), it would have been completely out of character for him not to care about them.
So I wanted to explore the way Paul’s sister and nephew would have seen him and how they would have reacted to the pain he went through in ministry. I gave them names, too. Temira and Seth. 🙂
February 12, 2021 at 11:55 am #92563@wyn-rose Hi Wyn! I’m so glad you’re here!
Got some questions for you!
1. If you don’t mind, can you tell me about a bit about your WIP?
2. What are some of your favorite books/authors/movies?
3. What do you like to do besides writing?
4. Some favorite desserts?
5. Pineapple on pizza? Yes or now?
Feel free to ask me whatever you like! I looking forward to chatting with you!
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know

Wow, I’m definitely guilty of overlooking that verse! That’s a really neat way to start a story!
Hi Lingyang! It’s nice to meet you!
1. My WIP is about a girl who delivers stolen goods in order for her family to survive. Then she and her close friend are arrested by a corrupt official, and along with the others they are held captive with, they must escape in order protect their family back home.
2. I really like Lord of the Rings (books and movies), and when I was kid I was really into this Christian fantasy series called the Dragon Keeper Chronicles, which I’m still attached to despite its minor imperfections. I’m sure there are others, but that’s what jumped to my mind first.
3. Besides writing I like drawing, reading, and (sometimes) spending time with my family. I used to like spending a lot of time with our family friends, but sadly I haven’t been able to see them much lately!
4. I like ice cream and baked goods in particular (but then again, I like most desserts!)
5. Yes! (on certain kinds of pizza) How about you?
February 12, 2021 at 1:58 pm #92587@wyn-rose Whoa, your WIP sounds really interesting! I’d love to hear more about it!
Oo, I haven’t read much Christian Fantasy, but there was a series I really liked called Dragons in Our Midst. Perhaps you’ve heard of it?
Oh, I used to draw and read! Not much time for it now, unfortunately.
I also really like ice cream! And anything lemon. And sweets in general.
Eyyy, pineapple on pizza forever!

If hours don't turn into daysFebruary 12, 2021 at 2:27 pm #92596@devastate-lasting I’ve read the first two Dragons in our Midst books and thought they were pretty good. I’ll have to get the other books sometime!
Yes, pineapple on pizza!
February 12, 2021 at 3:02 pm #92601@wyn-rose You totally should! I really enjoyed them!

If hours don't turn into daysFebruary 12, 2021 at 3:03 pm #92602Hi Wyn! Welcome to the forum!
Whoa, congrats on making it to 60k! I’m more of a short story gal, but I’ve recently I’ve been really wanting to write a full length novel. What has been your favorite part, and what has been the hardest part about writing your first novel?
Ah! I love art too! Have you ever drawn art for your stories?
Oooh, and your WIP sound really intriguing. Do you have a favorite character from it?
February 12, 2021 at 5:06 pm #92619Welcome to KP!
Ooo, speculative fiction, you say? Do you dabble in sci-fi? I, a primarily fantasy gal, have been working on a sci-fi short story about a con-man who has self-induced terrible stuff happen to him and his brother, who also has terrible stuff happen to him, but not self-induced so much.
What genre is your WIP?
We crazy people are the normal ones.
February 12, 2021 at 5:23 pm #92628Hello Kathleen! Thank you!
I think my favorite part about writing my novel has been the joy of creating something of my own that I I can be proud of. The hardest part is when I set aside time to write, but nothing I write feels right for the story and I end up deleting a bunch of it. I also struggle with procrastination, but I’ve got into a pretty good writing schedule for now.
I’ve tried to create a little bit of art for my stories, but nothing ever turns out exactly the way I see it in my head!
Oh no, I don’t know if I could pick just one favorite character! One of my favorites, though, serves as a sort of mentor or guide for my protagonist and a few of the others. Unlike many of the other characters, he doesn’t change very much throughout the story, but instead serves an anchor to hold the others together. He’s compassionate and quick to listen to the people around him, and he doesn’t deserve what happens to him…
