      Hi,

      I like writing poetry, (well I think it is poetry and if it is poetry then it is free verse poetry), and I like writing fantasy. I have written a fable and was going to enter it in a contest but that didn’t happen. (I finished the fable to late), I also tried writing a short story without fantasy in it but that didn’t work. All though I am thinking about changing the story up some so that it doesn’t have the fantasy in it.

      I love animals, especially horses, I enjoy playing the piano, well it is a keyboard but I can hardly wait until we get a real piano, and eventually I will be learning how to play the violin. I also like sewing, baking, computer coding and reading.

      My favorite books to read are books on history, books with riddles and puzzles, (especially if they take math), and books by Edward Eager.

          @princessmk Hello, and welcome to the forum! I’m Linyang, one of our…uh…I don’t have a title. Maybe I can have one one day.

          Anyways, I find that dog in your profile picture super cute! Is it yours?

          Ooh, I used to write poetry! I’m afraid I don’t have much creative juice left for that now…

          I really like playing the piano! One of my favorite hobbies!

          So…

          Care to tell us about any of yours stories?

            @godlyfantasy12

            When I write stories I usually write fantasy. But I prefer writing poetry.

            I like your profile picture!

            @devastate-lasting
            thank you!

            Yes, that is my Golden Retriever puppy. The picture was taken on the 24th, he was six weeks and in about eight days I will be bringing him home and later he will be trained to be my service dog.

            I enjoy writing poetry more then fantasy or any other stories. Poetry is just a whole lot easier for me to write.

            As far as stories, I have had two fantasy story ideas for quite a while, like for two years or maybe it was one. Either way, I will share one of those ideas, it’s the last one I came up with out of those two.

            The story is about two children who are adopted by an inventor who had recently created a special elevator that can take you to different lands. The inventor hadn’t tried out his new invention yet and got carried away when showing the children the invention and sent the two to a different land. A strange one to, it’s winter but it’s not cold, fish can jump through ice but yet when you walk on the ice it is solid. Any way, the children don’t know how to get back since when they climbed out of the elevator it disappeared. The children begin to think that the inventor is a villian. The inventor though realized what he had done and went after them but when he finds the children he has to make them realize that he isn’t bad. Eventually it works and together they must find a way back.

            I am working on a writing challenge of taking writing prompts that aren’t related and putting them in a story. I am still figuring this one out though.

            My younger sister, one of my older sister’s, and I are co-authoring a story. It is called A Hundred More Wishes. It’s about one or two children who somehow get two wishes. When they realize it they wish for a hundred more and use the wishes to help people. As they find more people who want to help others they give them wishes. Later on a villain finds out about it and acts like he wants to help people too. After he has gained the children’s trust he uses his wishes and takes away everyone else’s. Then he starts stealing and doing other things using his wishes. When the children find out they along with everyone they have helped in the past do there best to stop the villain and they continue helping others by using there own money, food and more. They at one point stop the villain from stealing and then from there they are able to turn things around and he might stop being a villain but we aren’t sure yet. We are still planning it out and we don’t know the ending yet.

              @princessmk Aw, he’s really cute! I hope you have a great time together.

              I used to write a lot of poetry, but I haven’t really found any inspiration nowadays…mainly sticking to song lyrics now. Do you like free-verse or any special format?

              Ooh, a magic elevator! I really like the sound of that. The world sounds really interesting, too. I also like the premise of your second one, as well. Will these be middle grade/children’s fiction?

                A very warm welcome to the KP forum! It’s fantastic to have you!

                (If your in the mood, I have some warm pre-holiday hot chocolate if you want any.)

                Poetry has been something I’ve wanted to learn more about and experiment with, but I’ve been a little caught up with the many stories I’m writing. XD

                How long have you been writing? And what made you start?

                Both premises of your stories sound really intriguing. It’s really cool that you write with your siblings! I do that as well. My siblings and I have been writing stories together for over seven years! What does you and your siblings’ writing process look like?

                  @devastate-lasting

                  I prefer writing free verse poetry. I have tried writing other types but it doesn’t work very well.

                  Yes, the story that my sister’s and I are working on we hope will be the type that adults will enjoy as well. By second one do you mean the one with writing prompts or the one that my sister’s and I are writing together?

                  @kathleenramm
                  Thank you!

                  After going into a cold garage I am.

                  What does XD mean? Is it an abbreviation? I don’t use a lot of abbreviations so I only know a few.

                  I started writing poetry about four years ago and stories two years ago. One of my older sister’s started writing poetry and got me interested and then the same sister started writing stories and got me interested. The first poem I wrote was for my Grandpa, and the second was to go along with a picture, I think any way but I am not sure. The first story I wrote was a fable and I only got the first draft completed, the second story is the short story that I didn’t want to have any fantasy in it but it has some, and that is also only the first draft.

                  A Hundred More Wishes will be the first story that we will have written together. After we get an idea for a story we discuss what we want in the story, decide the basic number of characters we need and then work on forming the characters. We then each choose a character. Next we work on an out line and we write out the parts that have the character we chose and that is as far as I know. For me I usually figure out what characters I need, I form them, outline the story and write the first draft. I wait a few weeks and then revise it, wait a few more weeks and then edit it and after all of that is done I rewrite it out so that it looks neat. I haven’t completed all of this yet, but I have a story that I need to revise and edit. I usually can’t outline all of the story but by using what I do have I normally can write the first draft completely. (That’s with short stories not long ones. Long ones I have to completely outline them.) I hope that is what you meant.

                    @princessmk I mean the one you and your sister are writing together. That sounds cool; maybe I should ask my sister if she wants to work on a story together sometime.

                    What do you like to bake? And what are some of your favorite books?

                      Okay.

                      I like making cookies and bread. My favorite type of cookie to make is chocolate chip.

                      Favorite books, I have so many! The new way things work, His name was Raoul Wallenberg, While standing on one foot, puzzle tov and seven day magic. The last one is by Edward Eager. I hope I got the first book title right. What are some of your favorite books?

                        @princessmk I love chocolate chip cookies!

                        Oh, wow, I can’t believe I haven’t heard of any of these books. My favorites are: The Little Prince, Oliver Twist, East of Eden, My Sweet Orange Tree, Night on the Galactic Railroad, and Fahrenheit 451.

                        Are you homeschooled, by any chance? We have a lot of homeschoolers here (including myself) 🙂

                          Out of those books I have only heard of Oliver Twist and just a few days ago Fahrenheit 451. I have now heard of all of them since you mentioned them.

                          I am homeschooled. What is your favorite subject or subjects?
