During NaNoWriMo this year, I tried a few different times of the day to write. I tried from 6am to 9am, but having no morning-person-ness in me whatsoever, that didn’t go well after a week or so. So then, I tried writing from 3pm to 5pm. That worked pretty good, but I was continually being called away to do something around the house. After that, I tried from 9pm to 12am. After two nights of amazing progress, I wondered why I hadn’t thought about doing that years ago! 🙂
What about you all?
January 3, 2016 at 1:56 pm #8281I do 7pm to 10pm on weekdays, and all day Saturday since Saturday is seldom very busy for us as a family. 🙂
January 3, 2016 at 5:05 pm #8282I write in bits as I get time. Normally an hour or so throughout the morning and another hour or two in the afternoon. I like getting everything done before evening so I can relax and read then; but sometimes I write after supper too.
INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.
January 3, 2016 at 5:50 pm #8285Morning. I am a morning person. Ask anybody.
But even more than that, I write best when I plan to write. If I decided such a day wouldn’t be good to write, and then that changed, I wouldn’t do it. But if I decided to do it, chances are I will. The thing now is I need to learn to plan to write more.

January 4, 2016 at 10:17 am #8301I can’t really pinpoint a time frame in which I write the most. Recently it’s come at random. With work and family routines, I’d probably say in the evening.
Or when I suddenly get the most ingenious idea I’ve had in a while and then I have to write it out that very moment! Even if it’s the middle of the night 🙂

January 4, 2016 at 2:03 pm #8312@kateflournoy Wow! You do a lot of writing! How many words can you do in that time?
@hope Good for you! I wish I could write that much.
@daeus I wish I could do mornings. I envy those who can. 🙂@rolena I write randomly throughout the day, too, but I learned that school drags on if I keep ‘taking a break’ to write. 😉 Middle of the night…yep. Those notes are always fun to read in the morning.
January 4, 2016 at 2:47 pm #8313I wouldn’t call myself a morning person, but I do my best work in the morning, so I prefer to write then. My favorite time would have to be from about 9-11 in the morning, giving me time to do all the stuff I need to do in the morning, (before becoming oblivious to the world…) and giving me time to do all the school I need to do that afternoon. And it doesn’t interfere with meals, at least for my family. Other than that, whenever I have enough spare time that I can sit down with my computer and actually get into my work.
January 4, 2016 at 3:25 pm #8315Actually @Ivy-Rose I’ve never counted— I probably should. 😛
But it depends very heavily— sometimes I can’t even break past a thousand in one night, but last night, which was a fairly good night, I got 1,670. Saturdays I usually get a whole chapter down— and my chapters are really long. Like, 4,635 words. *cringe* I know. I need to trim my chapters. 😛
What about yourself?
January 5, 2016 at 12:02 pm #83411,600 is awesome, Kate! And 4,600 is amazing or one day…even if it is a long chapter. 🙂
For me…it definitely depends on the day, but I never let myself do any less than 500 words and have done as much as 3000 in those 3 hours. My average is about 1,500.
January 5, 2016 at 3:23 pm #8342When I can, really. I’m not a beacon of scheduled perfection. But in NaNoWriMo I had an hour sometime in the morning and an hour sometime in the evening so I could break it up a little.
