The Light Triumphs
Esther W. (Ariel Ashira)
There was nothing left to say,
Time was gone and with it day,
Night had come and so had fate,
With nothing left to do but wait.
Glancing through her casement near,
Watching shadows dance with fear,
And like a candles flickering breath,
Chilling and ghostly and pale as death,
Moonlight waffed through the tattered trees,
Blanching white the shifting breeze.
She rose and stepped outside the door,
A shudder creeping to her core,
And flinging herself into the night,
She fled in reckless, desperate flight,
Searching and seeking for something to fill,
The empty terror of her soul and will.
But when all her effort could hold her no more,
She sank and fell to the pine-needle floor,
Bleeding and battered and to weak to cry,
She lay as death closed in nearby,
Enchained, enslaved, entombed,
Doomed and ruined.
High in the sky, as clear as glass,
A flicker of light shone to the grass,
Its beam was like a silver stream,
Wavering, traveling, pure and sheen.
It shimmered, twinkled, like the stars,
Casting its light from low to far,
Upon the fallen girl it shone,
Who lay amazed, afraid, alone,
Squinting at the soft, white light,
Shining crystal clear and bright.
A Voice came from the sky above,
That touched the earth with peace and love,
“Fear not, for I thy God hath seen
Thy search; and I will, be thou clean”.
She felt the light reach to her soul,
The darkness fled, the broken became whole,
A dove swooped through the spear of light,
And then both vanished from her sight,
And the forest was once again dark,
But now inside there glowed a spark,
Forgiven and covered with mercy and grace,
She stood with peace upon her face,
Renewed, redeemed, released,
Alive and free!

Hi, Dekreel! Do you sometimes sneak off of hiatus? 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it.
I gotta read the new poems and stuff! XD Mostly I’ll be off the FORUMS, but I may stop by to comment on a submission every once in awhile. 😉
Beautiful!
Thank you, wise King!
I don’t believe we’ve met, and I just want to say this was a beautiful introduction. The imagery carried me along; I could see the dark trees, feel the pine needles soft embrace as the girl fell, hear her heart beating with fear. And then, peace.
Thanks so much for sharing!!
