I am a tool in the Carpenter's shed
My perfect appearance has many mislead
But under my paint I'm starting to rust
What good is a tool if its gathering dust
I am a tool on the Carpenter's shelf
It's a rarity when I step out of myself
But to be a success you have to be tough
What good is a tool if its gathering dust
I am a tool in the Carpenter's belt
I should be a gavel for the judgment I've dealt
But what if my judgments have been unjust
What good is a tool if its gathering dust
I am a tool in the Carpenter's hand
I can do all the things He says that I can
But a tool cannot work without the Carpenter's touch
What good is a tool if its gathering dust
I am a tool in the Carpenter's chest
I'm no good on my own, this much I confess
But with the Carpenter's help I can do what I must
What good is a tool if its gathering dust
I am a tool in the Carpenter's grasp
Gladly I'll go wherever He asks
I'll follow His plan and in Him put my trust
No longer a tool just gathering dust
