I was really going to try and wait another month before posting this, because that’s when my actual KP-versary is, but my internship ends next week and I’m kinda (really) sad about it, so I could use some love.
Anyway. March 26th, 2017–almost a year ago–I was sitting on the couch, doing schoolwork, when my mom told me about some ad she’d found, for a website called Kingdom Pen. I was skeptical at first, especially when she told me it was a Christian writing website, because it seemed too good to be true. How could everything I’d ever prayed for and wanted as a growing writer be in one place? I didn’t believe it was possible. Still, something told me to look into it, and I did.
Four days later, I was a forum member, and my KP roller coaster began.
It started with @jane-maree, who very patiently helped me figure out how to use the forum. Guys, it took me forever to figure out how to tag people properly. Seriously.
Shortly after, I met @dragon-snapper and @graciegirl and @kate-flournoy and @christi-eaton and @daeus and a whole bunch of other people who have grown me in ways y’all will never fully understand, and are still teaching me things. I’m a better, smarter person today because of you guys.
A few days later, I did one of the scariest things I’d ever done in my entire life: I posted part of my story to be critiqued on KP. I was terrified. Really, seriously scared. But I did it, and that’s when I really started learning. Because what I hadn’t realized was how little I knew about writing, and how amazing KP was going to be. Posting that snippet led me to meet my most fantastic KeePer friend and mentor @kate-flournoy, and after that, my writing really began to grow. Kate, you’ve taught me so much, and really pushed me to become a better writer. Without you, I don’t know where I’d be. Your encouragement has meant so much over the past year. I blame you for any terrible deaths or deranged backstories that may befall my characters. *casually sips poison*
My internship began six months ago, and it’s been a wild ride ever since. It hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned so much from the KP staff, and will continue to learn, even as this little green badge fades and become another regular ol’ forum member. Thanks for everything, guys.
I’m looking forward to many, many more years on the forum! *winks* Y’all are stuck with me now…
Elizabeth out!

February 21, 2018 at 4:32 pm #64347@That_Writer_Girl_99 I’m so so happy that you checked out the ‘too good to be true’ forum. This place wouldn’t be the same without epic people like you to spread some happiness and friendly words of encouragement and advice.
Seriously, girl. You’re amazing. <3

February 21, 2018 at 7:11 pm #64360@That_Writer_Girl_99 wow… has it really almost been a year? 😛 Time flies.
Hey, I happily take the credit for all those terrible (awesome) things if it means I helped you grow even the tiniest bit. Thank you. I’m glad. Keep going. 😉
February 21, 2018 at 7:14 pm #64361@That_Writer_Girl_99 Yay!!! Congratulations, and may you reap the goodness of KP for many more years. 😉 D’ye remember our first conversation? It was regarding Luke Skywalker and whether or not he’s whiny. XD
February 21, 2018 at 7:21 pm #64365@That_writer_girl_99 I’m feeling slightly sentimental like you’re leaving, but you’re celebrating the fact that you’re not leaving. I find that utterly fascinating. Write that down somewhere. Happiness can be sad.

February 21, 2018 at 8:25 pm #64378@that_writer_girl_99 Seems hard to believe it’s only been a year. Feels like you’ve been a part of this for much longer than that. 🙂

February 21, 2018 at 8:47 pm #64383@kate-flournoy Haha, I know, feels like it went by really fast, huh? Seriously, though–your help over the past year has meant a lot. *all the hugs*
@daeus Goodness, I really didn’t intend on being that philosophical, but…yeah. That pretty much sums up how I’m feeling right now.
@aratrea I know…crazy. It’s been quite a ride.
@emma-flournoy Luke Skywalker is amazing and nothing you could ever say can convince me of that. But thanks for the kind words, dear.Writer. Dreamer. Sometimes blogger. MBTI mess. Lover of Jesus and books.

February 22, 2018 at 11:12 am #64447@jenwriter17 I agree that there definitely should be some sort of international Kingdom Pen day. I don’t know how exactly one would go about celebrating it but holidays are great.
@that_writer_girl_99 congratulations on your almost anniversary!!! Kingdom Pen is a wonderful place for learning and sharing, I wish I remembered it more often when I’m pounding my head against my laptop, trying to figure out what on earth I should write XD and are internships really as horrible as every career advice book says they are? I have heard many (many!) differing opinions on them. -
