Hello everyone!
I’ve been keeping up with Kingdom Pen off-and-on for several years, was recently reminded of it, and am surprised how much it’s grown! But here I am, finally creating an account. I am Liddyanne on the OYAN forum, and have been for years, although I rarely get on. I’ve been to the last 3 OYAN summer workshops. I have been writing since I could hold a crayon and I’m preparing to self-publish with a novel that recently ran a 30-day campaign on Amazon (but didn’t quite make the cut for a publishing contract…it was sooo close, though!).
Anyway. Glad to be here!

September 30, 2015 at 8:15 pm #6169Welcome, Elisabeth! So glad to have you here. You may or may not be aware that most writers are insane, but I’ve taken it upon myself to warn every new forum-er of that fact, and so spare them a very rude awakening when they actually start interacting with all us nutcases on here. So… we’re insane.
But then… I’ve heard that OYAN isn’t exactly the most calm or collected thing out there either.

September 30, 2015 at 9:04 pm #6171Welcome! And if you’ve been to the last three Oyan workshops, does that mean we were at the same one? Ordinary Heroes?

I’m glad you stopped back in to see what was going on here at Kingdom Pen! It’s been a busy place! Oh and let us know when your novel is published! I’d love to check it out!https://rolenahatfield.com/
October 1, 2015 at 9:44 am #6176Hi, Elisabeth!
October 1, 2015 at 3:04 pm #6186Thank you for all the welcomes, everyone!
@ Daeus–Thanks for asking! I write everything. Probably because I read everything. My last book (the one I hope to self-publish) was a kind of sci-fi/world travel/fantasy twist in a real world, and the house was my narrator. My next book, I hope, is going to be more along the lines of a “prodigal daughter” story–something more down-to-earth than my last endeavors. We’ll see.
@Kate Flournoy–Thanks for the warning….hopefully I can consider myself well prepared…
@Reagan Ramm–Yes, I was at the Ordinary Heroes SW. Loved it. People in years since still squeal “FREE STUFF!” all the time…
@Rolena Hatfield–Sure, I’ll let you know! Thanks!October 1, 2015 at 6:02 pm #6187Hey! Sister of my friend Dobby.
I think I had an existential crisis when I realized your name actually isn’t Liddyanne.
It was a shock.October 1, 2015 at 7:20 pm #6188You wrote a book from the POV of a house? Wow! Cool! How did that work out for you? Was it any more difficult than just a regular first person narration?
October 2, 2015 at 8:49 am #6198@Ezra Wilkinson–Hello Dobby, friend of my brother Dobby! Oh dear. Well, it’s kinda my name…like, my nickname and middle name combined…but yeah, it’s not really XD
@Kate Flournoy–It was kinda tricky…it was mostly like writing in third-person omniscient since he was telling someone else’s story, but getting into the house’s “head” and using his voice was a bit of a challenge. It was a blast to do, though! -
