Hi everyone!
I just found out recently that I like making up names. But I can’t use most of the names I make up because I don’t write fantasy so I don’t have any need for cool/unusual/just plain weird names. But I do know the troubles that come with naming a character, and thought that maybe someone here who has a character with a missing name would like my names and put them to use.
So I thought I’d start a topic where people can post names they like, preferably not real names, which can be used in fantasy stories. Anyone who likes the names can take them and use them in their own stories, and it’s okay if more than one person likes the same name – it will just mean there will be two stories out there with the same unusual name, making the name a little less unusual! 🙂
I will start with a list of mine, but my list is so long I will have to break it up into a couple of separate posts. 🙂

*gasps* @rochellaine, you’re the best!! I write fantasy, but I’m horrible at making up names. Thank you so much for these lists! I’ll definitely use some of these names in my fantasy story.
January 16, 2018 at 9:47 am #60371@waterlily That’s great! Which ones do you like best? I want to know if anyone has the same favorites as I do.
(I actually held back on my favorite of favorites. I am going to try to use it in one of my own stories, because I love it so much.) 🙂

You can pronounce it however you want.
January 16, 2018 at 10:45 am #60382@notawriter Cool. What type of person do you think Jana Neader is, though? Is it a hero or heroine, or a sidekick or mentor? I think it could sound kind of forbidding and be a “dark lord” or something, but could also be sweet and sympathetic. 🙂
@dekreel Those are cool names! I like Airow, Dae, and Adric a lot! I was kind of thinking for this topic to be mostly newly invented names, since you can find a lot of real (but cool-sounding) names on any baby name website. However, the names you selected are really nice, and though I don’t think I could use Airow, I might use Dae sometime. 🙂 By the way, let me know if you do decide to use my names. I’d like to hear they’re getting used. 🙂"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
January 16, 2018 at 1:14 pm #60394@rochellaine Great idea!!! I have a few…

Hmm Idk. Names are kind of a weird thing. Like they have a large impact on how you perceive the character but then also I feel like one name could go to so many completely different characters. Y’know what I mean? although for me its the kind of name I would give to a hero. (or heroine) 🙂and I was so confused
January 16, 2018 at 2:06 pm #60397@rochellaine This is the bestiest! *flailing* Here are some names I’ve dreamed up but will never use:
Ero
Driana
Romanique ( roh-man-EEK. I don’t know if this is a boy’s name or a girl’s…)
Ivari
Larik
Arax
Railos
Evina

January 16, 2018 at 3:53 pm #60401@daughteroftheking @ingridrd I love those names!!!!!
@rochellaine *talking to self* She likes Adric…. SHE LIKES ADRIC!!!!!!!!! Sorry, Adric is a Dr Who character’s name, and you know how we Whovians are……..You can pronounce it however you want.
January 16, 2018 at 4:30 pm #60403@ingridrd I really like Mern. It sounds unusual, and would make a character unique, I think.
@daughteroftheking Driana is really pretty and I LOVE Larik! I hope someone writes a story with someone named Larik just so I can read it and relish in the name. 🙂
@dekreel Um, I’ve never met a Whovian, but my brother is a Trekker…"Sylvester - Sylvester!"
