Okay, so one of the books i’m currently working on is a retelling of Rumplestilzkin and Repunzel. In this story the repunzel character has to save Rumple, her father figure. So, while she is looking for him she meets 11 sisters. she joins them and they become the 12 dancing princesses. now, my dilema is coming up with names for the 12. I want them to all be similar. for example, all tree names, or all gem names, or so on.
(please ignore my terrible spelling)

Kapeefer til we're old and greyNovember 15, 2017 at 4:37 pm #53402@alia They could all be colours, maybe? Or possibly different times of day. Or they could rhyme. Not sure…
That one English guy.
November 15, 2017 at 4:46 pm #53405@alia They could all just start with the same letter. Or I liked what @theacornman said about the names being colors. Or maybe they could all be nouns like Faith, Hope, Mercy, etc….?

November 15, 2017 at 4:46 pm #53406@alia they could all have nature names, for example:
Lake–Dale–Rain–River–Diamond–Ebony–Jet–Jade–Teal–Ariella–Violet–Daisy–Azure–Opal–Onyx–Dove–Bryony–Ivy–Jasmine–Fern–Lily–Rose–Sage–Ruby–Amber–Avery–Jay–Mica.
Those are just a few suggestions, if you want more, let me know!

November 16, 2017 at 5:31 am #53466@alia This isn’t the best suggestion, but perhaps they could be names from the same country? Or the same culture? For example, old fashioned names like Jane, Charity, etc.
I like what @ingridrd said, that’s what first came to my mind. Another idea (and this is a bit unusual) would be to make them six pairs of twins with names that matched. E. g. Ella and Emma, Hailey and Hannah, Cheyanne and Charlotte, Chloe and Claire, and so on.
Maybe even flower names would work. You can get some pretty cute and unique flower names like Rose, Jasmine, Dahlia, Zinnia, Camellia, Poppy, and more!
Maybe some of those various suggestions are helpful. 🙂
I tell my story. Not so that I get glory, but so that others may know Hope.

@alia, Coming up with names can be hard, I agree. There is a website I look to for help with names. It is called Random name Generator. Another one is fantasy name generator. These are just two sites I know of and use. Of course you can always google name generators and it will come up with some. The links to the sites I mentioned are below
November 16, 2017 at 10:17 am #53484@alia I’ve done a 12 dancing princess story before, and I used flowers. I just looked up a list of flowers, and choose ones I thought would make good names.
November 16, 2017 at 12:17 pm #53510@inkling-for-christ, thanks for the links, I gone to the fantasy one, but not the other one.
@princessfoo, flower names, yes. I’ll have to look into that.
@emily-d, ooh, cultures, I like that idea.
@seekjustice, I really like those.
@ingridrd, the idea of them starting with the same letter is honestly amazing because the names could have nothing in common except for the letter. The wheels in my head are now turning.
@theacornman, colours, rhyming, love it.Thank you all, if you have anymore ideas let me know

Kapeefer til we're old and greyNovember 16, 2017 at 9:00 pm #53594@alia In one book I saw the princesses were named for the months. If you made up you own months for your world that could work.

@alia Well everybody else gave all of the suggestions I would’ve given, so I can’t help you. 😀
November 16, 2017 at 9:27 pm #53609@alia I don’t think anyone suggested this yet, but dancing princesses makes me think of music, so you could do musically inspired names, such as Aria, Harmony, Melody, etc.
