      Have any of you played “Would You Rather?” I like to concoct funny “would you rather” scenarios to torture my family. Here are some I created just for us writers:

      Would you rather write your novel backwards, or only be able to use words under six letters?

      Would you rather have to eat every page of everything you write, or have to do a push-up for every word you write?

      Would you rather have to write while riding a camel at a rock concert, or while sitting next to two people in a crowded subway who smell of garlic?

      Feel free to add your own “would you rather” questions for others to answer.

        Backwards, because sometimes it helps to start at the end 😉 Or did you mean the words backwards??? :O

        Would you rather have to eat every page of everything you write, or have to do a push-up for every word you write?
        Push-up, because exercise 😉

        Would you rather have to write while riding a camel at a rock concert, or while sitting next to two people in a crowded subway who smell of garlic?
        Ugh, people either way… 😛 Sitting on the train

        Would you rather always have to kill off your favourite character, or only be able to write in the middle of the night?

          @perfectfifths No, I didn’t mean write the words backwards, that would be way too hard. 😋

          Yes, people can be highly distracting and exhausting, especially to an introvert like me. What’s your personality type? I’m an INFJ.

          I think I’d rather write in the middle of the night, because killing off my favorite characters would be detrimental to my emotional health. 😆

            @mariposa I am an INFP, so, yeah, also an introvert 😉

            And I agree with that. I was giving these scenarios to a friend of mine, telling her which characters I’d have to kill off from my different stories, and she said “If you kill any of them, I’ll make you a character in my next book and kill them!” 😆 The ultimate author threat!

            Here, let me tag some people so we can all play 😉

              Great idea, @mariposa !
              1. I think I’d rather write it backwards to. That is, if I had a very detailed outline…
              2. Push ups. Good work out…paper eating would make me sick, therefore I could not write.
              3. Subway. Seems like an inspiring situation, whereas in a rock concert I could not concentrate to write at all. Plus it lasts longer. I’m an ENFJ.
              4. Write at midnight. I’m a night owl.

              Would you rather write only with invisible ink or write in ancient dwarvish, scratching each word into stone?

                @dragon-snapper Invisible ink, etching word into stone would take me so long I’d probably be ninety before I finished my first draft. 😉

                  @dragon-snapper Yeah, invisible ink, but if it weren’t for the etching in stone, I’d love to write in ancient dwarvish runes 😀

                    Would you rather have your novel beta-read by Darth Vader or replace your main character with a squirrel?

                      1) I would probably want to write it backwards……..
                      2) Definitely push-ups *laughs* I never get enough exercise when I’m writing!:)
                      3) Hum…..probably in the subway. I get a headache when I’m trying to concentrate and there’s too much noise around.
                      5) Definitely write in the middle of the night! I’d run out of tissues if I always had to kill off my favorite character!:)
                      6)I’d love to write in invisible ink! That way no one could criticize my handwriting!:)
                      7) Well……my main character in the children’s book I’m writing is a squirrel! So I guess I’ll go squirrel here:)

                      Would you rather write hanging upside down in a tree or while in a tiny plane tossed by turbulence?

                        @daughteroftheking I think I’d rather have my book beta-read by Darth Vader (I bet he’d have some cool tips to enforce my plot). 😉

                        @celticcailin
                        Probably in a tiny airplane, because I don’t think I could write upside down.

                          @daughteroftheking Darth Vader. He can help me develop my Chosen Ones, anti-heroes, villains, and redeemed characters 😉

                          @celticcailin
                          That’s hard. But probably plane, because I often write on my iPad if not at my PC, so that’ll be okay.

                          Would you rather only be able to eat after you’ve written 2 chapters of your novel, or suffer insomnia until your story is done?

                            @perfectfifths I’d rather only be able to eat after I wrote 2 chapters (that actually would be a good incentive to write).

                            Would you rather write a book you love but everyone else dislikes, or write a book you dislike but everyone else loves?

                              @daughteroftheking Beta-red by Darth Vader–because really, how awesome would that be? After I killed off his favorite character, I would get an email from him saying, “You have failed me for the last time.”

                              @celticcailin
                              Tiny plane. Writing upside down is probably not healthy. Unless I’m doing pull ups.

                              @perfectfifths
                              Aaii! I would definitely only eat once I’ve written 2 chapters. Not only is it a good way to make progress fast, but I have experienced tortu…*cough* I mean, insomnia, and it is horrible,

                              @mariposa
                              I guess it depends on whether I needed to make money or not. Probably a book I love though, because I can’t write something I don’t like.

                                Would you rather listen to hard rock music while writing, or write for five hours in a cinder block room with pale white lights?

                                  @dragon-snapper Probably a cinder block room (I can’t concentrate to write even with the slightest disturbance so listening to rock music would be a definite “no”).
