‘Lo, to the members of my new KP family!
Gracie here, reporting in from my humble abode in the Hidden Meadow of Indiana! May I just start off with saying that I am sooooo excited to be here!!! I found a secret entrance to this magical kingdom in the realm of Instagram, and I was astonished to find a place where fellow crazies-I mean, writers, like me could gather to discuss our admittedly unique obsessions. 😉 (Seriously, where have you guys been all my writing career?)
A little bit about me: I love painting, drawing, tree-climbing, camping, reading, piano playing and studying personality types. Oh, and I’m VERY ticklish. 🙂
I’m an INFP on the MBTI and a 4w5 on the enneagram, so, yes, I am a hopeless romantic on the inside, but I will hardly ever show it if you talk to me in person. I am super curious about what types you all are, so if you know your type on either the MBTI or the enneagram I’d really like to hear!
My favorite piano artist is David Nevue and if you haven’t heard of him you need to go listen to both his Sweet Dreams and Starlight and The Acceleration of Time right now. Like, now.
My favorite authors are J.R.R. Tolkien, Elizabeth Gaskell, Jane Austin, John Flanagan, Pseudonymous Bosch and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Especially, Tolkien and Doyle! I am a huge LotR and Hobbit fan just like all of you, I read Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell in one day, (which was NOT easy but, oh, so worth it!) and I am currently making my way through the complete Sherlock Holmes. Please, please tell me someone else here has read them ’cause I haven’t seen anyone who has yet! 😉 Oh, and if you think The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: A Scandal in Bohemia is the best one of all time I’ll be your best friend forever.
And, of course, I have to mention my writing. I have been working on building my story world for almost 3 years now, and I am currently outlining for my first, actual, cohesive draft of my book! My story was inspired by a homemade poster my mom has hanging in our basement listing all the Fruit of the Spirit. I had been drawing lots of fairies lately and I decided to sketch a fairy to represent or personify each of the virtues. Thus, my story was born!! These simple drawings sent me out on a quest to find the true nature of emotions and what part they should play in our lives. It is a goal, I fear-No, it is a goal, I know, I shall never fully achieve, but I’m up for the adventure and whatever else I may learn along the way!
Well, I guess that’s about all I wanted to say. Oh, wait! I’ve noticed that there seems to be some sort of tradition around here about being the first person to welcome a new member. (Something about this being the best place on earth or whatever.) 😉 Anyway, I’m going to offer a little prize to whoever says that time-honored line first. I will name a minor character in my book after that person. (I’m talkin’, like, says-maybe-three-sentences-in-the-whole-series-minor.)
Or, if they don’t care to have him/her named directly after them, they can submit any other name of their choice.Ta,

February 7, 2017 at 12:09 am #25535Hi Gracie!!! Welcome to the bestistest place on the Internet. 🙂 You like camping? That’s so cool! What is the longest camping trip you have been on?
February 7, 2017 at 12:37 am #25537I just finished reading A Scandal in Bohemia. It is very well-written! I think Hound of the Baskervilles is my favorite Sherlock Holmes story-line, but the very unhappy ending keeps it from being my favorite story. What did you think of A Study In Scarlet? I liked that one, because Sherlock Holmes is not addicted to drugs yet, and he has a much livelier character.
February 7, 2017 at 1:08 am #25539Hey, Gracie! So glad you could find this little haven of fellow lunatics! Sounds like you’ll fit right in here. (I mean that as a compliment 🙂 )
So what do you like to draw/paint? Water color or acrylic or something I’ve never heard of? And good thing you’re a Tolkien fan. We can get pretty engrossed sometimes. Just don’t bring up the subject of Tauriel and Kili and you should be fine. 😉 (*cough* @Emma-Flournoy *cough cough*)
And I know @Sarah-H already said it, but here it comes again: Welcome to the bestistest place ever! 😛
P.S. I’m an INTJ. 😀- This reply was modified 7 years, 9 months ago by Ethryndal.

February 7, 2017 at 7:42 am #25545@graciegirl Rats. They beat me to it. Ah, well.
Ahem. Welcome to the bestiestiestiestistest place ever!
I have just one question for you. Did you say John Flanagan. (that’s dangerous. Lots of people here like his books…including someone who’s name rhymes with Dragon Clapper)☀ ☀ ☀ ENFP ☀ ☀ ☀

@graciegirl ANOTHER INFP! Hip hip Horary!!! Its a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I just finished a Scandal in Bohemia not too long ago and it was fantastic! The ending was so unforeseen! I have not read all the others, but it will probably be my favorite. 🙂
I’m so excited your starting your first book! Way to go! 🙂
See you around!
GabrielleFebruary 7, 2017 at 8:29 am #25548@Graciegirl HEYYYYY! SOMEONE ELSE OBSESSED WITH MBTI! (On a scale of one to ten, how obsessed would you rate yourself? Unfortunately I think I’m a twelve. XD) And a fellow INFP to boot! And someone else who has spent three years building one fantasy world! And someone else who loves both Tolkien and Elizabeth Gaskell! (Have you read North & South?) And someone else weird enough to embark on a quest to discover what role emotions play in our lives! *grins so wide her face nearly splits**shakes your hand vigorously* Welcome! I think you and I are going to get on splendidly. 😀
February 7, 2017 at 8:45 am #25552@graciegirl (Better late then never.) Welcome to the bestistest place on the internet!
I’m about 30% of the way through Sherlock Holmes. I pretty much just read him on car trips, so it’s sporadic, but I get a lot done at once. I don’t know which is my favorite honestly.
Hey, keep on with your story world. It sounds neat.
I’m an ENFJ. On enneagram I got achiever. They also told me stuff about my wings, but I didn’t pay much attention because I didn’t know what they meant.

February 7, 2017 at 8:57 am #25554@graciegirl Oh, yeah. I’m ENFJ, a protagonist, but I don’t really know anything more than that. 😛 I’m with @daeus , but they didn’t say anything about my wings. That, or they did and I didn’t even read it. 😛
Ooh, drawing! I like to draw too. Do you sketch, or do you do other things, like paints, or colored pencil? I prefer sketching, but I’m warming up to colored pencils.☀ ☀ ☀ ENFP ☀ ☀ ☀
February 7, 2017 at 9:01 am #25556@dragon-snapper The wing thing is from enneagram, not MBTI.

February 7, 2017 at 9:46 am #25559@Sarah-H (Ding-ding-ding!!) We have a winner! 🙂 I think the longest camping trip I’ve ever been on was somewhere around 7-10 days. Last year for our Big Trip we circumnavigated Lake Michigan. It was AWESOME!! If you ever find yourself in the Michigan area, Luddington State Park and Union Bay Campground are my absolute favorites! At Union Bay we stayed in one of the sites that backed up to Lake Superior. The bumper of our trailer was literally 30 ft from the water! It was the most beautiful place! Oh, and I loved a Study in Scarlet too, but I haven’t gotten to the Hound of the Baskervilles yet.
@Ethryndal Oooh, elvish! Me likey. I was raised primarily on acrylic, but recently I’ve been working on learning watercolors. I love how you can be so vague and impressionistic with them! Although, I still haven’t quite learned how to leave what I need to be white white, if you catch my meaning.
Ah, yes, Tauriel and Kili. *rubs hands together excitedly* I stumbled across that rather heated debate a few days ago. 😉 Seeing that was the final straw. I HAD TO BECOME A MEMBER! I started raving to my poor siblings. “See, guys?! They’re having an entire debate about those love triangles I’m always groaning about! I’m not the only nut-case ’round here!” I, personally, am okay with Tauriel and Kili, but NOT at the expense of Tauriel and Legolas, if that makes any sense.
An INTJ, eh? Hmm. *pulls out a clipboard and starts taking notes* Never had the chance to observe one of those before. 😉
@dragon-snapper Yes!! John Flanagan is a favorite for sure, but I can’t decide if I like the Ranger’s Apprentice or Brotherband more. It depends what mood I’m in. Have you read the Ghostfaces yet? I actually teared up at the end!
ENFJ, ya say? *snickers* (read it out loud, it rhymes.) Neat! I also don’t have any of those in my family circle. 🙂
I generally prefer to paint these days, but every once in a while I get the sketching bug. My sister is four years younger than me and WOWZERS is she good at portrait sketching! She drew this picture once of my cousin and I saw it sitting around thinking it was the real picture. I like colored pencils a lot for drawing too.@winter-rose Fellow INFP! Greetings! I’ve read scores of Holmes’s adventures since a Scandal in Bohemia and I can assure you there are non quite like it. ‘Cept for maybe the Final Problem. THAT one was UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING!
@Kate-Flournoy 10 definitely at ten on the MBTI Obsession Scale. I have to be careful how often I mention it around here these days. *whispers* I think my family is getting just a bit tired of hearing about it. 😉 Another INFP, oh goodness, I think I’m gonna a cry. I might actually if I could stop smiling long enough! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! North and South is the best!!!! I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the ending! It was so funny, and now that you mention it, Mary Barton’s was just the same style. Funny, endearing, and kinda abrupt, some of my favorite endings of all time! Ah, yes, emotions. What a huge part in my story they do play. There is so much to discover about them, I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface these past few years. In my story world, fairies can actually see and feel the emotions of those around them. It a lot of fun to play with! *shakes your hand back vigorously* Thank you for the warm welcome!
@Daeus Thanks for the encouragement about the story world! I find it hard sometimes to be sure which SH story is my favorite too, but every time I remember my astonishment and, frankly, sheer joy when I found out Irene had beaten Sherlock in a Scandal in Bohemia…..Oh, that was so much fun! My decision suddenly isn’t so hard. 😉 And yet another ENFJ! And an Achiever no less. Interesting. Very interesting. 😉THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE WELCOME!!!! I can’t wait to get to know you all better!!

February 7, 2017 at 12:35 pm #25565@graciegirl Ah, I’m late to this wonderful welcome party! So you found us through Instagram 🙂 (I’m part of the social media team so that makes me really happy) <3
Anyway, I’m glad you are here. Since we are talking about our personality types, I’m a strong ESTJ, basically all of the ESTJ attributes apply to me.
Enough about me, I just want to welcome to this fantastic kingdom! This place is full of amazing people as I’m sure you have already guessed. (They just get better as you get to know them 😉 )Well, those college classes are beckoning me so I must be off so soon. I can’t wait to chat with you more. 🙂
Theater kid. Currently depressed because I can't stop listening to sad musicals.
February 7, 2017 at 1:54 pm #25567@graciegirl Welcome to the forum! Glad you’ve found us. 🙂 I actually just read Scandal in Bohemia for the first time last week for a college class and enjoyed it a good bit. Also, shout-out for breaking the MBTI-monopoly by including your Enneagram. 😉 I’m actually a 4w5 as well!

February 7, 2017 at 2:16 pm #25570@GracieGirl That’s funny, because I just started water-color too. I’ll always be more a pencil person myself, but I agree, the vagueness is great, though my love of it may stem from a less than worthy motivation: When you mess up, NO ONE KNOWS EXCEPT YOU. They say, “What’s this weird blob over here?” And you say, with a nonchalant shrug of your shoulders, “Art,” and they walk away, completely impressed. 😉
And I’m in my natural habitat, so this is the best place for studying me. Though I’m not the only INTJ here. There are several. Have fun with that. 😀
