HEY EVERYONEEEE!!! HOW ARE YA!!!
So…as the title says…
All of yall probably know that I’ve really been struggling with my WIP recently…I just can’t seem to write right now…it’s not flowing properly…It’s making me kinda sad…but… I started reading some old writing for a past WIP.
It was a Peter Pan retelling I was EXTREMELY (And always have been) passionate about. And…it was so good (at least compared to what I’ve been putting out I feel like.)
Which kinda brings up another thing but I’ll get to it later, but anyway.
I was reminded of something one of yall had said about maybe working on another WIP since maybe I’m just burnt out a bit on this one right now?
Now, don’t worry, this other WIP, my fantasy series, is my baby. It’s my passion. These characters are my literal CHILDREN! XD, so I’m not giving it up by ANY MEANS! I’ll still be thinking of them, creating stories in ma brain, etc, but…I think I need to try writing something else maybe…which is hard to say honestly…and we’ll see if I can stick to it lol…but yea.
So, I think I’m going to return to this old WIP…My Peter Pan retelling! Which has always been so close to my heart, and I’m kinda excited tbh!
But, it brings up something I have a question about…
Maybe it’s just because of life…because I haven’t been writing much…or been burnt out…or haven’t been motivated? Or maybe because my writing has changed… But…have you ever looked at your past writing and thought “Man this is so much better then what I’m writing right now…things seemed so much easier/simpler.”
Even though I know it wasn’t simpler or easier cuz I know I didn’t finish it XD but you know what I mean. it seems even HARDER now. Now I can’t even seem to write anything as good as it used to be.
Maybe it’s just because now my eyes are looking back it seems so fresh, whereas when I first wrote it it seemed like trash XD
ANYWAY NO MORE RANTING!!! I’m actually excited rn! Maybe it’s the idea of working on something semi-new/old? but yea! And I get to share all this stuff yall haven’t seen! If yall wanna see it…?

You should do that!! You’re not giving up on November or Paxton or anyone, you’re just giving them time to rest and develop in your subconscious. I often switch between projects when I feel burnt out. It gives you something fresh to look at, and there’s much less frustration.
But…have you ever looked at your past writing and thought “Man this is so much better then what I’m writing right now…things seemed so much easier/simpler.”
Yes, I have felt that way. I think it is a result of bein more forgiving towards your long-past self than to your recent self. I can look at my five year old writing and appreciate it, but with recent stuff, it’s easier to see what isn’t as good, because I was just working in it the other day, you know? So you’re probably not getting worse, Godly, you may have just spent lots of time rereading your own recent writing.

Also…yall…not me literally looking back and this old WIP and remember/really realizing…
I WROTE 50,000 words for this book….
This is the first (and maybe only) book I wrote 50,000 words for…
That’s…an accomplishment.
And at the point I was at when I did it…I didn’t feel accomplished because I had “rushed it.” and yea, I had, and it felt kinda not great…but now, looking back, older, with more forgiveness, I just…feel kinda in awe? Or like “Man…maybe I really SHOULD go back to this! Like…I got so far with this in reality…I never really finished it? But at the same time…I did finish so much. I FINISHED A DRAFT. It wasn’t perfect at all. But it was something! I wrote 50,000 words for this project back then!!!

That’s no simple feat. 🥰 And you actually have words on the page which can be edited and made into something even better! It’s not like you’re working with an empty document here, this is a seriously already finished first draft.
