It is here!!!!
(And, yes, I know I said it would be Nov 1. The reason for the swift delivery is that I realized that it makes more sense for me to plan a little bit ahead, but not plan everything up front. Otherwise, the plan would be too easily derailed by unplanned events.)
Anyway…
INTRO
The premise of this RP is…
Your characters have been summoned to a fantastical world where war rages between an evil Dark Lord and a determined resistance.
I could say more, but I don’t want to spoil the surprises in store! While I will act as the guide for this story and plan some things in advance, your characters will be the driving force of this narrative.
“RULES” (note the quotation marks)
The goals of this RP are:
- Have fun!
- Hopefully tell a fun story in the process!
There will be a place for all types of characters, both good and evil. Also, while this is going to be a fantasy setting, characters from any genre are allowed. The only thing I will ask you to be careful about is power level. Having powerful characters is okay, we just don’t want characters that are so powerful that they easily solve all the problems they come across single-handedly or prevent other characters from doing anything. This wasn’t really a problem in the original Character Party, so I don’t expect this to be a big issue, because most characters are probably not this powerful. As long as you’re not destroying entire armies with ease, blowing enemies up instantaneously, solving the plot with barely a struggle, or the like, you’re most likely good to go. And if you do happen to have a powerful character that you want to use, just ask and we can most likely find a way to work around the problem.
The only other “rule” (really more of a set of guidelines) that I want to put forward is this: stay in character.
This implies a couple of subrules:
- Your character should only act on what they know, not what you as their writer know. The easiest way to make sure of this is to write in first person or third person limited perspective (incidentally, the latter will be the recommendation for this RP, but I won’t require it.)
- Avoid controlling other peoples’ characters. The person who owns a character will know best how they should act, so it’s generally best to let them control their own character. If you are fine with other people controlling your character to any extent at some point, you can allow them to do so, but otherwise try not to.
From my experience, these rules already tend to be unspoken rules in most RPs, and many if not most of you probably already follow them most of the time. Considering that this is a more story driven RP, I just wanted to make them a bit more explicit. (I’m not trying to insult anyone by implying you weren’t aware of these ideas already. Just want to make sure that everyone is in fact aware of these principles.)
Note that these rules will NOT be strictly enforced. They are, as I said before, guidelines more than anything else, and there may be exceptions to them. The goal here is to have fun, and I think these rules will help ensure that everyone does. If anyone has feedback about them, it is welcome!
(Oh, yes, and of course, the normal KP rules apply as well. Doubt it needs to be said.)
With that said, let me tag everyone who’s expressed interest. (I think I got everyone, but apologies in advance if I missed anyone.)

Our first step before we actually start the RP will be to select our characters! You can have more than one. For now, these are the rules I’m considering for character limit, though they might change later on.
- A base limit of 3 characters per person. (i.e. you can always have at least three, but you can also have less.)
- Nobody should control more than 25% of the total characters. (i.e. if there are 20 characters, no more than five of them should be yours.
- There may be a separate limit for villainous characters. (However, at this point, we are not ready for villains.)
I don’t expect character limit to be much of a problem. In the original Character Party RP, I don’t remember anyone having more than three or four at once.
Right now, we’re looking for characters that will form the “hero” group. However, that does not mean that you have to submit “good” characters right now. More flawed or downright evil characters could provide interesting tension and possible future betrayal…
You don’t have to submit a character before we begin. Characters can join at any point.
Once a good number of characters have been added, we’ll start. I’ll probably begin by setting the scene, so you get a sense of location. I also encourage collaborating with others before having your character enter the scene to decide where and with whom your character will first arrive. To start out, it’s generally better for the characters to meet in small groups so that they can begin to forge relationships with a few other characters instead of being overwhelmed by 10 other people at once.
There will also be NPCs. For the purposes of this RP, NPCs will be defined as characters who are native to this world. Most likely, I will control most of them, though if you would like to have an NPC of your own, we can probably arrange that. These won’t count towards your character limit. There may also be some minor NPCs, which won’t necessarily be owned by any specific person, and thus can be controlled to some extent by anyone.
Lastly, due the possibility of lots of scenes taking place in a lot of different places, I would suggest using an RP format something along the lines of:
[character name] —— (current location)
If the current location doesn’t have a name, do your best to use something that will enable us to know where the character is. Worst case scenario, list some of the other characters in the area so we know who they are with. We don’t want characters teleporting around due to people getting confused about where they are.
That should be all for the rules. Sorry it’s a bit long, but thanks for taking the time to read it. (Unless you skipped down here, in which case, shame on you!) If anything was unclear, feel free to ask questions.

October 29, 2024 at 11:44 am #188525Summary:
- All types of characters welcome. Be wary of adding a super ultra powerful character.
- Stay in character.
- You can have at least three characters for sure.
- Currently, we’re adding characters for the “hero” group. (Though less “good” characters could make things interesting as well and are allowed.)
- A bit later once we have a good number of characters ready, I will set the scene so we can begin.

October 29, 2024 at 12:30 pm #188529*Smiling with evil intent* Oh, yes, this will do.
Ben Gunn
A middle-aged man about 5′ 10”. His occupation was a whaler but when the ships company went down, Ben turned to piracy to support his family back home. Though after being betrayed by one of his friends on his ship, he is stranded on an island. Three years past and Ben’s daughter, Jane, who he does not recognize, comes to the island to try and find some buried treasure. Ben had already found the treasure but decided to help Jane. Realizing that Jane is his daughter, he comes home but his wife shuns him for going into piracy and divorces Ben. Ben, now all alone, ventures to find his place in the world.
Ben is skilled with the combat style of one similar a pirate who is drunk. Though looks may deceive you, Ben knows very well how to use the two swords strapped to his belt. He walks like he’s drunk as well, but it is really just his sea leg that won’t go away. Ben may still act like he is a marooned maniac, but he is still witty.
I go by many names, Andrew, Andy, Mandrew, but you may call me... BATMAN!!!
October 29, 2024 at 2:32 pm #188532For my own characters, I have not yet decided all of who I will pick. But there is one who cannot be left out.
Ellisir Narathel
(Pronouned “EL-is-eer NAYR-ath-el”.)
Those of you from the old Character Party will know him, though he has been changed slightly since then.
Ellis is 6′ 3″, has short dark blond hair, and blue eyes. He wears travelers gear composed mainly of brown clothing, but also a small chest plate that covers only his upper torso, pauldrons, and steel vambraces on his forearms. He also has a green cape for style, though it detaches fairly easily to avoid being caught during combat.
Ellis is serious and sometimes quite intense. He has a more lighthearted side, but it isn’t seen frequently, or around strangers. He is a bit hot-headed and prone to acting recklessly on occasion, though at other times he is much more cautious.
He carries a sword known as Soulmight, his ancestral Eivir blade. Soulmight is an elegantly designed weapon adorned with emeralds at the crossguard and pommel. The sword is aligned with the Eivir ideal of Conviction. As the rightful owner of the weapon, Ellis can activate its powers, though it requires him to align with this ideal as well. When activated, the sword blade surges with green flames, and Ellis’s eyes glow green as well. In this state, the sword becomes even more effective at cutting and is specifically designed to penetrate dragon scales. It also grants Ellis enhanced strength, speed, endurance, healing, and reaction time. The green energy surrounding the blade is capable of resisting fast-moving projectiles, but melee weapons are not fast nor small enough to be affected.
Additionally, Soulmight itself is sentient. The sword can speak out loud, or directly into the mind of its wielder or anyone touching it. (I will be using italics to indicate this.) Soulmight has a dry sense of humor and enjoys pointing out when Ellis makes a mistake. In some ways, it’s also not the smartest, being a sword and all.

October 29, 2024 at 9:59 pm #188548Nahim and Mandin?
—OR—
Just Nahim?
Or another charrie too if you can think of one
Last time I did Nahim, but after the events of GA, and it went well, so I think I want him in this RP. Just during GA
I just can’t decide if I want him to be alone or with Mandin. Both have extremely interesting possibilities.

October 30, 2024 at 12:02 am #188551Ooohh, I can’t pick who to use… I want to use someone who is fresh and fits the adventure theme, but I feel as if I will last longer in this roleplay if the character is super comfortable to me.

Lol I had like twelve!
I wasn’t counting any of the Lillening characters. Under the definitions of this RP, they qualify as NPCs, which I noted will not count towards character limit. Other than them, I think you only had about four.
