      I’ve never written a synopsis and I want to know what y’all think of this one. Does it make you want to read the book? Does it pique your interest? Please be brutally honest and tell me what it needs.

      Gladiola Bloom has never dreamed of a life away from her beloved Carrabasset Valley yet when her family decides to move to an unsettled land she relishes the adventure.
      But life on a wagon train isn’t as exciting as it sounds. When hardship and tragedy strike around every turn and friendships are tested to the breaking point, will Gladiola learn trust God with everything or take control and lose it all?

        @hannah-c It sounds just fine (it’s short and sweet), except there are some commas missing in key places, and I believe you meant to put the word to between “learn” and “trust” in the last sentence. ?

          @hannah-c It looks good to me. Short and sweet, like Brianna said. I don’t think you’re missing anything. 🙂

            Thanks! I completely overlooked that missing word even though I read it over more than once. XD Thanks for pointing that out.

            Thank you! 😀

                @hannah-c Yeah, I do like it. You really got to the heart of the character in just a few words. That’s fantastic. One place I might want a little more information is on the trials she faces. What type or trials are they? Also, in the last line, you may be spelling out your theme a little too clearly. I think it might be better to phrase it more from the perspective of your character who has yet to learn your theme’s truth. Something like, “Gladiola struggles with her trust in God, thinking that she’s the one who needs to take control to get out of her troubles. Things however, are not always as they appear.”

                    @hannah-c
                    I’m warning you; I’m about to be brutally honest and contrary to everything everyone else has said.
                    This is not a synopsis. Synopsis-es are supposed to be one to two full pages long and are a general picture of what happens in the story including major scenes and major plot lines. They are meant to be sent to an editor or publisher to give them a general picture of the book. They usually run up to 1,000 words, but you don’t want to give out to much info to avoid spoilers.
                    What you’ve written is more of the back cover of a book; if that’s what you were aiming for, then congratulations! You accomplished that with flying rainbows. But a synopsis, those are much more to write. (don’t take my word for it though, I’ve never written one; however, I’ve done extensive research on them)
                    I’m sorry for my brutality, but, what’s done is done. Sorry…

                      @dragon-snapper no please don’t apologize! I asked for everyone to be brutally honest. A back cover description was indeed what I was trying to write and somehow I confused that with synopsis. Its good to know the difference so thanks for clarifying that for me. 🙂

                            I’m glad that worked out…Synopses are the worst thing in the world!!! So boring…
                            And BTW, the description makes me want to read it already. Actually, you just gave me an idea for a story! *flies off to brainstorm*
