My name is Brianna and I’m KP’s new copy editor (AKA mistake-slayer). I’m looking forward to interacting with and getting to know some of you. However, to save me from the awkwardness of composing a formal introduction, I entreat you to hop over to the staff page and read my bio. π
Here’s a list of random facts about me:
1. I’m an INFJ, which is the rarest personality type (about 1% of the population).
2. I’ve been a night owl ever since I was eight years old. I had trouble sleeping, so I’d stay up till midnight devouring books. That habit has never changed, although now I’m more likely to be writing/editing, browsing the Internet, or texting a friend.
3. I was a volunteer at our local library for five years while it was short staffed. My main responsibility was putting books and movies away, so I’m an ace at arranging things in alphabetical order.
4. My favorite author is Chuck Black (The Kingdom Series and The Knights of Arrethtrae). I recently bought The Wars of the Realm trilogy, which I’ve been hankering to get my hands on for a while.
5. I can pull off donuts on ATVs, and in the winter (when there’s snow on the ground), I call the stunt “powdered donuts.” I mentioned that in a recent blog post: http://www.theliterarycrusader.com/blog/mind-revving
6. I love old TV shows (from the 1970s and before), and they’re pretty much the only ones I watch.
7. I’m obsessed with the movie Frozen. I’m also kind of a Disney-addict all around.
8. I can’t stand most rollercoasters. Steep drops nearly give me a heart attack.
9. I can type on my phone with only one thumb as quickly as I can with both hands on a keyboard.
10. I’m a “Storm” trooper. I (hopefully) have better aim though. πAugust 25, 2016 at 1:23 pm #16103@theliterarycrusader It’s nice to meet you! Welcome to the bestistest place on the internet (YES, I said it first)!
I’m definitely a night owl, too. π I can never go to bed early, and I can’t sleep during the day (unless I’m really, REALLY tired). πIβm a βStormβ trooper. I (hopefully) have better aim though.
Haha. It’s so true, though. The Storm Trooper have terrible aim. Like, so terrible they never hit their targets. π
August 25, 2016 at 1:47 pm #16110Oh, hi edit wizard! You just stepped into the bestistest place on the internet. Nothing is guaranteed anymore.
INFJ? Coolo. I was just reading about those ’cause my MC happens to be one.
Can’t wait to send you something to shred up. In fact, I’ve got something in mind…

August 25, 2016 at 2:07 pm #16116Hello, mistake-slayer! I was very pleased to see that you slay mistakes, not dragons…seeing as I am a dragon myself. Welcome to the party!

August 25, 2016 at 5:14 pm #16127Greetings, @theliterarycrusader! I have a MC who is an INFJ. I’m a INTJ myself…a type that is pretty rare among women (0.8%). I’ve read most, if not all of Chuck Black’s works too. I enjoyed The War of the Realm trilogy. The idea was very interesting even if the writing isn’t the best. π
INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.

A thousand Welcomes @theliterarycrusader!
Which book in the Wars of the Realm series is your favorite? I’ve read them (for the most part π ).August 26, 2016 at 1:15 am #16178@gretald I’m afraid the editor in me can’t help cringing a little at the word “bestistest.” ? But the writer half of me smirks. (It’s troublesome being both, in case you’ve ever wondered. One side of my brain is perpetually arguing with the other.)
@daeus I’ll get my knife sharpened for you. ? And if you ever need some insight into how an INFJ might think or behave, feel free to ask! The same goes for you, @hope. ?
@dragon-snapper Yes, be assured that dragons are out of my line. I’d probably get burnt to a crisp if I attempted to stab one. ?
@hope Oh dear. The Wars of the Realm has lackluster writing, huh? I’m hypersensitive to bad writing, so that’ll drive me nuts. ? It could be an “eye of the beholder” thing though, and maybe it just wasn’t your taste. ? We’ll see.@winter-rose I’m waiting for the books to arrive in the mail, so I haven’t read them yet. Which one is your favorite?
Thanks for the welcome, everyone!
August 26, 2016 at 3:55 am #16182@theliterarycrusader Thank you so much for joining KP! It will be neat to have a “real” writer to ask questions to. (Not that everyone else isn’t a real writer, but you know what I mean. π )
August 26, 2016 at 8:04 am #16188I can’t stand bad writing either. There is only one or two authors who I will read despite somewhat choppy writing because I love their stuff so much. @theliterarycrusader
The War of the Realms might have slightly better writing than the Kingdom and Knight series. I own both those series and I love the stories, but the writing itself? I don’t think it’s very good at all there either. So if you like those books, then you should like The War of the Realms and chalk it up to different tastes. π
INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.
August 26, 2016 at 11:42 am #16194@sarah-h I wouldn’t designate myself as a “real” writer any more than the rest of you, so please don’t call me that. A writer is someone who sets words to paper and perseveres at it, regardless of how widely published they are or not.
As a freelance editor, I’ve worked on books written by middle-aged adults that couldn’t hold a candle to some of the material I’ve seen young writers produce. So skill (despite popular opinion) isn’t necessarily relative to age, because everyone is at a different level of experience and possesses different strengths/weaknesses. That’s why fellow authors/editors can help one otherβwe fill in each other’s deficiencies. The key is to observe the techniques and rules that characterize fine writing, and to be open to constructive criticism so you can improve. A heavy dose of talent goes a long way. ?
As Ernest Hemingway so aptly put it, “We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.”

Beautifully put, @theliterarycrusader. I love you already. Welcome! π
A dreamer who believes in the impossible...and dragons. (INFJ-T)
August 26, 2016 at 7:47 pm #16245I can’t believe I missed this!!!! Aauuuugggghhhh!!
Anyway, here I am. Hello and welcome, @TheLiteraryCrusader. This is a beautiful, wonderful, magnificent, inspiring, friendly, cheerful*coughcough* Okay, enough with the adjectives. This is an awesome place and I’m thrilled that you’re going to be a part of it. Welcome to Kingdom Pen!
September 1, 2016 at 8:39 pm #16682Yep, I’m late. But hello and welcome! @theLiteraryCrusader. I happen to be an INTJ, so sort of similar. (Wow @hope, someone else like me… I only know one other INTJ female. And she happens to be an para Olympian…)I also had insomnia for a while, so people started calling me night-owl… I read a lot of books during the wee hours! π

@theliterarycrusader I would have to say Light of the Last. The climax was super intense. π
