      HEYOOO!!!

So, I am going to be “remaking” my current series Bible, and figured I’d get all of you to join me!

First off, I should probably explain what a series/story Bible is XD

(Also, if you dislike the term Series Bible, feel free to call it a Story or Series Binder, Form, etc!)

Basically, this is where you’re going to keep all of your info (At least the important info) about your story/series! This can be in digital or written form (I’m going to be doing both) So a literal binder and papers, or a file and documents on your phone, tablet or computer!

You can use this for one single story, a duology, trilogy or series!

It’s mostly to have one single place you can go to to find whatever information you need for your story at any time, without having to jump from document to document, or different notebooks, journals, etc. It’s all in one place! Characters, settings, plot, etc.

You’ve probably already made something like this, but having a name for it makes it feel so much…idk, more real? XD And exciting!

Plus…you can customize it however you like and organize things YOUR way!

This is especially useful when you’re writing a series, or more then one book, because you need to make sure you can keep facts straight.

For instance, if a side character’s eye color was one thing in the first book but now it’s something else in this book? Big no no! A series Bible will help you be able to reference back to their character chart quickly and say “Oh ok, this color!”

You can have as much or as little in your own binder/bible as you wish, and organize whatever way you like!

Organize by book, systems (such as setting and then character and then races/species, etc) organize by color (having a color represent different things! This also works well if you have multiple books, you can give each book a color! Or each character a color. Or both. Like me!)

If you’re doing a digital one, you can use a word doc, pages, scrivener, google docs, Notion, the options are basically limitless, and you can find templates online!

If you’re doing it by hand you can also find printable templates, and I’d suggest buying a binder OR a paper organizer (something that inspires you or is cute or you just really like!)

SO! Now that I’ve explained a bit, I’ll give some detail and example using my story bible that I’m remaking! Now, I say remaking because I do have a program on my computer where I keep most all of my series info. It’s called Notion (AND IT IS AMAZING!) But I want to kinda fix It up a bit, and also have a physical copy as well.

These are the main contents (as of right now, I may add more) I will be placing within my Series Binder (Not necessarily in this order)-

      • Characters + Characters Arcs
      • Story Arcs, Summaries and Themes for Each Book
      • Places, Settings, Organizations, Culture, and Government
      • Magic Systems + Tech
      • Objects Of Significance
      • Creatures, Races and Species
      • Languages + Dialects
      • Timeline
      • Style Guide

And I will be splitting things by book, including characters and character arcs, because I am writing a very large series so I have to approach things a bit differently. For instance, I may have to make multiple character sheets/arcs for the SAME characters, because they change book by book.

Some places are only in certain books, so they will only be in that book’s section, etc.

So yea! What do yall think?

        Oh this is really cool!

I have something similair, just in different word documents. I have a folder for my writing, then one for each wip. For my main wip I have a file for each charrie (A random trait list i found online). I also have a self narrated paragraph for some of my character, like what would they say about themselves kind of thing. It helps me keep their motives straight.

Other than that I have various braindump files… which are messy but fun because you can see how your plot and ideas have evolved over time.

Ohhhh, that makes sense! It sounds super cool! Yep, I already have a little bit of notes about stuff, but not anything like this.. I’m excited to see what yours is like!

Oh yeeaaah, that’s what you meant! 😋

Yeah, I have those! I have a folder for characters, plot, worldbuilding (the main three, as Sanderson would call them), the actual draft, and then individual folders for each main character and their own overarching story.

At least that’s how far I am now… I might have to divide up some of it, because there’s so much 😂

I’ve wanted physical binders, but I’m not at that stage where I know my documents well enough, that I can print them out in an orderly fashion…

And color coding is so fun!!! Although since I already see colors, I don’t necessarily have to put in the colors. I like to make aesthetic boards and put those on the front of the doc, so it’s easy to pick and choose without mixing things up.

…And I indeed have had trouble with eye color 😂 Like, Marcel, dude, have you ever actually had one eye color for at least a week? Luckily he’s fixed now, but the problem was once there.

@whalekeeper XD!!! BRUH! That was me with Nyx’s eye color and that IS ME with GRIMM’S STINKING HAIR XD (not the color, but how it looks…I’m still undecided….GAH. I keep imagining it two different ways and I can’t decide 😭)

Oooh! This sound super fun! I have one on my Google docs (One doc that’s nearly longer than my WIP itself)  but want to print out stuff and put it into a book/binder/journal! I will do one and share it with you guys! I would love to see how yours is coming along also 🙂 This is going be so much fun!

Ikr?? Sometimes you don’t even realize it. It’s like you’ve created different, extremely subtle versions of your WIP on your mind, and you can’t figure out which details to keep and to chuck.

Oooooh! This is a great idea! I’m game!

This would be very helpful cuz I have so many online documents and notebooks full of random info and I can never find what I’m looking for. 😂

I rolled the log over and underneath was a tiny little stick and I was like, "That log had a child

Oh yes, searching through multiple docs trying to find something. It’s always great to have it separated but all in one place. 😂
