Soooo…since most writers are also avid readers, I thought, “why not make a forum where everyone on KP can share about the book(s) they’re currently reading?”

Whether it’s a new read, a reread, or whatever you’ve been reading lately, feel free to share!!

This is a place to share and even rant about the book(s) we’re currently reading, and a place to just chat and hang out as fellow writers and readers!!!

First, tags, and then I’ll talk about the book I’m currently reading 😉

And now….as for what I’m reading…I am currently reading The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien…and already enjoying it more than I expected 😂

Literally, Bilbo Baggins caught my attention almost immediately, lol…and the dwarves are absolutely amazing, y’all…literally amazing. XXD

I’ve also been somewhat reading Words on Fire by Jennifer A. Nielson, but I’ve paused that one as I read Tolkien, because I was really excited about reading it, lol

But anywhooo…what have y’all been reading??? This is the place to discuss!!!

Yay I’m glad you like The Hobbit so far!!

I’m reading a bit of LOTR here and there (I have read it before) and also a lot of fairy tales lately.

@highscribeofaetherium Ohhhh, I see. Ahhh, yeahhhhh, some authors don’t like happy endings, lol XXD I meannnnn, I’m not the biggest fan of them, like, I like them, but if they’re the “happily ever after, everything is suddenly perfect forever kind of thing”…ehhh, not a fan 😂😂

Oh, have any of y’all read Howl’s Moving Castle? I just finished it recently and it’s soo good. It’s really well written (the author actually took a class with JRR Tolkein) and the main character is a very unreliable narrator which is really interesting. It’s actually a romance, which is not usually my thing, but I enjoyed it.

and why, thank you! I thought it would be fun to share about books 💖

@freedomwriter76 I love happy endings, but the resolution has to make sense.

                      @highscribeofaetherium

Which fairy tales have you read? Did you read the original little mermaid?

Yup. I read that one. Disney really had no idea what they were doing. It’s really dark.

Lol I get really angry whenever someone changes a fairy tale to make it more ‘child appropriate’. NO!! I want to see some PUNISHMENT!!

lol, yeah. Or when the main character forgives the villain and lets them go free even though they definitely deserve at least some jail time. At least in fairy tales, the villain or monster usually dies.

                                  Yess!! Great idea!!

I actually just started reading LOTR, too, I’m on Fellowship of the Ring! I’m also reading some writing books, Winning the War in Your Mind, and I started a book called the Superteacher Project, which has been ok so far 😉

If anyone has recommendations for writing or clean fiction books, I’d love to hear them!! I’m really into sci Fi, dystopian kind of stuff, but I also like historical fiction and contemporary! (Also, if anyone needs recommendations, I have a ton 😉)
