I have another Marvel Fic and this one is really special XD
So here’s the blurb
Orphans of War
There once were two friends, best friends, who became America’s heroes. Together they foiled Hidra and together they both went down heroically. But this story isn’t about them it’s about their little sister and brother, who were also best friends.
Edmund Rogers and Rebecca Barnes were best friends who were both orphans. For a while, their older brothers looked after them but they both went to serve their country during WWII. Both feeling empty after their brother’s death, they decide to sign up for some experiments. Including Super serum, and… time travel.
After a few years of preparation, they’re finally ready for the test. But when they awaken they find that Edmund’s brother is alive and a superhero for the Avenger. Taking place right after the battle in Sokovia, they also find out that Rebecca’s brother is alive, but he isn’t the way she remembers him. With Steve’s help along with the other Avengers Rebecca hopes to change Bucky and defeat the ones responsible for her brother’s behavior. All before Bucky does anything else.
Chapter 1
Rebecca looked around the city, was this how Steve felt? Steve was her older brother’s best friend, but she had known him long enough to consider him her brother. He had been experimented on to be strong enough to go to war. Edmund her best friend was actually Steve’s younger brother. But of course, they were no longer siblings. Both of their brothers had died in the war. Rebecca held in tears, she was thankful for the few years she had with her brother. And at least she had Edmund.
“Are you ready?” Edmund asked as they walked down the sidewalk.
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” How do you prepare for time travel? How do you prepare to see a completely different world? “I guess I’m a little scared,”
“It’s not like we have anything here, or anyone to miss us.”
Edmund’s words hit Rebecca hard, he was right. Their parents had died and their brothers had died, leaving them with no one. No one cares if they survive or not, and no one would mind if they never came back. Rebecca and Edmund had both agreed that they would stay in the new world as long as it wasn’t dangerous.
“Rebecca you’re doing it again,” Edmund said with a chuckle.
“Doing what?”
“Thinking things you’ll never actually say.” Edmund gave a grin. “You know you can trust me, so why not say what’s on your mind?”
“I was just thinking that you’re right,”
“That’s something I don’t hear a lot.” Edmund gave a chuckle. “What am I right about?”
Rebecca laughed, “That we don’t have anything here to keep us here. We’re free,”
“That’s a nice way of putting it,” Edmund had always been a glass-half-empty kind of boy, while Rebecca had always been a glass-half-full kind of gal.
“I like nice things,”
“There seems to be few of them,”
“But there’s enough to enjoy,” Rebecca said with a smile, as they reached their destination.
“There you two are,” A short, almost bald man said coming out of the building. “You’re late,”
“Sorry Mr. Zola,” Rebecca said putting her head down in shame.
“And to be fair we weren’t exactly rushing to get here,” Edmund pointed out.
“After all this is the last time we’ll see this place,” Rebecca said with a smile.
“Or any place if things go wrong.” Zola pointed out.
Edmund and Rebecca shared a glance, that was a gloomy thing to say.
“Right…” Rebecca said hesitantly.
“Come along you two,” Zola gestured for them to follow him.
Rebecca looked around the city, she tried to soak up every inch of it before she left.
“Wait,” Edmund held out his arm to stop her from continuing.
“Why?”
“So we can do this,” Edmund pulled out his knife and began to carve his name into the wooded door frame.
“That’s the destruction of property!” Rebecca protested.
“It will be my mark on this world,”
“You mean time, we’re not traveling universes.”
“Whatever,” Edmund handed her the knife. “Come on, don’t leave my name all alone.”
I chuckled and then began to carve my name on the board.
“Perfect, who knows maybe we’ll see it at a later time.”
“Maybe,” Rebecca tighten her bag and walked inside the building. But turned to look around one last time. “Goodbye, world,”
~*~
Edmund looked around his surroundings, it appeared to be a city, but it was much bigger and much taller than the New York he had known.
“Rebecca, are you okay?” Edmund looked down to where he had expected to see Rebecca but she was nowhere to be seen. “Rebecca!”
“I’m right here,” Rebecca came out of an alley. “I was taking off this suit.” Rebecca gestured to the suit she was wearing.
“Can you believe this place?” Edmund said, looking around the city.
“It’s something,” Rebecca was going blind by the lights and the busy streets.
“Come on!” Edmund ran off through the crowd, taking in everything.
Rebecca smiled and then followed him. As they passed by they saw all the cars and electronics that they had never seen. There was no floating car as Howard Stark had predicted, but it was still fascinating.
“Is it just me or are you hungry?” Edmund asked stopping at a tiny store that appeared to have food.
“Starving, time travel works up an appetite,”
Edmund laughed and then pulled out his wallet. “I’ll go get us something,”
“Thanks,” Rebecca smiled as Edmund went into the store.
Rebecca looked around the city streets when she spotted a booth that was selling newspapers. The headline caught her attention, she pulled out a few nickels and bought the paper.
“Thank you,” Rebecca said as the man handed her the paper.
As Rebecca examined the paper, she was caught in utter awe.
“I got food, or I think it’s food. You wouldn’t believe how much has changed in the food industry.” Edmund said handing Rebecca a candy bar. “What’s wrong?” Edmund could see that Rebecca was in shock.
“Your brother is alive.”
The words hit Edmund like a pound of bricks. How could that be possible?! His brother had died.
Edmund snatched the paper from Rebecca and also stood in shock.
“Captain America leads the Avengers to victory against Ultron and saves the world again.”
Edmund turned to look at Rebecca, but she was gone again. “Rebecca! You have to stop leaving.”
“I bought a map,” Rebecca pointed to a destination. “That’s where the Avengers building is.”
“Are you sure we should do this?”
“I’m sorry do you have anywhere better to be, and when were you one to run away from a bad idea?” Rebecca said elbowing Edmund in the arm.
Edmund rolled his eyes and then smiled at Rebecca. “Fine,”

May 30, 2023 at 10:26 pm #145614Guys I’m freaking in love with Edmund and Steve’s relationship (that you’re yet to see XD) they’re complete opposites Edmund never follows the rules and he always wings it where Steve is well (we all know Steve) he’s a soldier, he follows orders XD so their brother relationship is funny but they also fight a lot

I have another chapter and this one made me sad toward the end ): but Mary was introduced Yay!!!
Honestly, I love this story so much!!!!
Chapter 2
“Mission accomplished,” Natasha loved to hear those words, and being her, she heard them a lot. Natasha had gotten the SD card and had secured the information on it. She was starting to get bored of these missions, they were too easy. She never had anyone who could challenge her, the Winter Soldier had come close but Steve and Sam were the head of that project.
As she walked down the alleys she kept looking around. Watching her back was second nature to her, emotionally and physically. As Natasha peered over her shoulder, she saw a shadow that sent a shiver down her spine. Natasha managed to turn around just in time to see a girl land on the ground. The girl wore an outfit that looked just like Bucky’s including the black mask. But her’s covered her entire face.
“Hi there,” Natasha said prepared to fight.
The girl didn’t say anything, just pointed her gun at Natasha.
But Natasha was prepared and used her wrist guns on her. She dropped the gun but showed little pain. Natasha had never seen that before, usually, her tazer brought people to the ground, including her. This girl is tough. Natasha told herself.
Natasha charged at the girl before she could pick her gun up. After a few kicks and punches, the girl managed to wrestle Natasha to the ground, but Natasha quickly rolled over, and now she had the upper hand.
They continued to roll around on the ground until they both looked over to see the gun lying on the pavement. Natasha looked through the mask into the girl’s eyes, a little bit of fear could be seen. Natasha kick her legs, sending the girl a few feet, but the girl landed on her feet. Her mask coming off, Natasha grabbed the gun and pointed it at the girl. The girl looked up at Natasha. Natasha was shocked to see how young the girl was, she looked to be a teenager. Her face seemed so familiar, her face reminded Natasha of herself. The girl was trained to kill and fight like a soldier, but all she wanted to do is run away.
“How old are you?” Natasha looked at the girl, she looked vulnerable.
“That’s none of your business,” The girl kicked the gun out of Natasha’s hand and grabbed her mask.
Natasha watched as the girl ran off, she thought about chasing after her, but she couldn’t bring herself to.
~*~
Mary ducked into another alley and then slipped off her mask. She looked down at her bloody knuckles and her bruises. She was tired, just plain tired, and the worst part was she had failed her mission.
She went back to walking, ignoring everything she had been through. That’s what she does best, ignores everything, the guilt, shame, or any emotions. They made her weak, they made her think. Finally reaching her destination, she pushed the door open to see her boss standing there.
“Do you have the card?” The man asked leaning into Mary’s face.
“No Sir,” Mary looked down in shame, but truthfully she just didn’t like to look the man in the eyes.
“Why not?” The man didn’t raise his tone, he never raised his tone. But his face, his smile, they showed anger.
“Natasha is strong,”
“You never fail, so I can’t help but wonder if this was on purpose,”
“Well, it wasn’t, I failed.” Mary wasn’t sure what happened, she never messed up, never.
“Well, we can’t have failure now can we?”
“No Sir we can’t,”
“Good,” The man began to walk away but turned to look at her. “I hope you don’t have any ideas of leaving, because no one out there would accept you. Not with everything you’ve done, you’re a monster, and we’re the only ones who would accept a monster.”
The word monster echoed through Mary’s head, she had done so many terrible things at a young age that no one could possibly forgive.
“You’re a good soldier, you know that right?” The man said with a smile.
“Yes Sir, I know I’m a good soldier.”
But there was one question that haunted Mary, the question that kept her wide awake every night. The question that kept Mary from ever escaping this place.
Was she a good person?
~*~
Natasha walked over to Clint, he was the only one who could understand what she was about to say. Natasha looked around the farm, it was nice, Natasha wasn’t sure the whole settling down life was for her.
“So what brought you all the way out here?” Clint asked looking over at Natasha.
“I’m not allowed to just come and see you,”
“I know you, Nat, you never just come to see me,” Clint said with a chuckle.
Natasha smiled and then hesitated. “It was my mission, I was fighting a girl and her mask came off and I saw the face of someone I had seen so many times when I looked in the mirror. A girl who wants out but has no way of getting out.”
“And you want to help her?”
“I was thinking about it,”
“And if she tries to kill you?”
“I’ll manage, you managed,” Clint had given Natasha a second chance when no one had, but she wasn’t too thankful for it when she first meant him.
“I hate it when you use my actions against me,” Clint said with a grin.
“You think I shouldn’t help her?”
“I think you just saw her face once and now you’re assuming she needs help.”
“But you’re wrong, I’ve seen that face over a hundred times, I’ve grown familiar with that face.”
Clint went silent, and then finally found the words. “I’ll help in any way I can,”
“Thanks, I might just take you up on that offer.”
“How’s Wanda?” Clint was talking about her brother’s death.
“She’s doing okay, she’s found comfort in Vision if you can believe that. How are you?” Pietro had died saving Clint’s life.
“I hated him, he hated me, but then out of nowhere he dies for me.”
“Maybe that’s why he did it, for once he had a chance to be the noble one. Can’t say I blame him for taking it.”
“You’re not going to go die on me, are you?”
“If it came down to me or you, I wouldn’t need to think about it.”
Tears built up in Clint’s eyes but he didn’t dare let them fall. He hoped that a moment like that would never come. That he and Natasha could both live long and happy lives.
“Daddy!” Natasha watched as young Lila ran over to the two of them. Her appearance broke up their deep conversation. Which both Natasha and Clint were thankful for.
“Hey princess,” Clint lifted his daughter into his arms and smiled at Natasha.
Natasha smiled back at both Lila and Clint.
“Mommy told me to come and get you before Cooper eats all the food.”
Clint laughed and then kissed the top of his daughter’s head. “Then I guess we should both get going. Nat?”
Natasha knew that Clint was offering her lunch, but Natasha wasn’t in the mood, and she had never considered herself much good with kids. “No thank you, I should get going. I have someone to find.”
Clint and Lila waved goodbye as Natasha drove off on her motorcycle. Natasha was Clint’s closest friend, besides his wife. But he feared Natasha was walking into something she couldn’t handle, or at least not by herself.
