I’m planning of making up a new e-mail for writing stuff…and that’s not really important, but in my current e-mail I have my favorite verse as part of my signature. I wanted to do something similar in my writing e-mail but am not sure what verse I to do. I want it somewhat writing related. Do any of you guys have a favorite Bible verses which could relate to writing? Also, what are some of your favorite writing quotes?

Awesome topic @Hope. My all time favorite writing scripture is Ecclesiastes 12:11:

The words of the wise are like goads, and the words of scholars are like well-driven nails, given by one Shepherd.

It reminds me not only of the power we wield (and have a responsibility to wield responsibly) but also of Who gave us that power, and ultimately Whose glory we should use it for.

Imagine finding something uplifting in Ecclesiastes. 😉

Ecclesiastes is a fascinating book. 😉 I like that verse, @kate-flournoy.

It is fascinating @Hope, I’ll give it that. 😉 One favorite quote (can’t remember who said it) is

‘There’s nothing difficult about writing. You just sit down at a typewriter and bleed.’

As far as I’m concerned, that’s pretty accurate. 😛

*wracks brains for other awesome quotes lurking just beyond reach* I know they’re there somewhere… I’ll let you know if I think ’em up again. 😉

Oh, and one more verse that mightn’t be exactly encouraging, but I think it’s pretty accurate to a writer’s life:

My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.James 3:1

Writers are teachers. It’s just a word of caution that sometimes I need to be reminded of.

@Hope I don’t know about Bible Verses, but one I really like is:

Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing. ~ Benjamin Franklin

I also really like this one:

A professional writer is an amateur who didn’t quit. ~ Richard Bach

I really like this quote, but I have no idea who said it (the person I heard it from didn’t either). I think it goes like this:

if you want someone to know the truth, tell them. If you want someone to love the truth, tell them a story.
