Hello! I just joined the forum. I am happy to be here, and excited to converse with other writers! My favorite genres are historical fiction and mysteries, or historically set mysteries. I’ve heard it said that lots of people ask questions, so I’m curious to see what you want to know! Which may be nothing, but it can’t hurt to be optimistic!

@sarahsmile. Hello, Sarah, and welcome to KP!!! 💕💕💕💕
I am FreedomWriter76 (or just Freedom 😉) a Christian teen girl, Homeschooler, Southerner, Music Fan, History Buff (mostly WWII…), and
unashamed Marvel Nerdthat has a passion for spreading the light of Christ through Historical Fiction!!! 😎🥰 (I also use a lot of emojis…so please forgive me! And forgive me for all the exclamation points…I’m just energetic this morning and happy you’re here! 😂🥰)Historical-Fiction and Mysteries are both AMAZING genres!!! (But I’m biased towards Historical Fiction because I write it, so…🤷🏻♀️😂)
Anywhooo…I’m so glad you’re here!!!
Before I get too far ahead of myself, I’m gonna ask you a few random ask-the-newbie questions! 😁
- Favorite Ice Cream Flavor?
- What is your current WIP about? (it’s okay if you have several…I have wayyy too many! 😂)
- Favorite Movies/TV Shows/Series?
- Favorite Books/Authors?
- If you could master up to 2 languages, what would it/they be?
I’m gonna tag another few keepers to say hello, so be prepared for a LOT of newbie questions!!!
Again, welcome to KP, Sarah, and God Bless!!!! 💕💕💕💕

I’m pretty new too. I’m a homeschooler, I want to be an actress / voice actress, and I’m a big fan of 80’s music.
Questions!
1 – Do you have a favorite time period in history?
2 – Favorite kind of music / favorite song?
I can’t think of anything else right now.

February 21, 2023 at 11:54 am #133995Welcome! I love your user name. It’s so cheerful! 🙂 I’m a Historical fiction writer as well! I also write contemporary fiction and non-magical fantasy. I am a follower of Jesus, a homesteader and gardener who loves learning languages.
Yes, I guess we are known for asking lots of questions. 😉 We like to have fun conversations to get to know each other, and random questions are a perfect way to do so! With that being said…
What is your favorite day of the week?
And, what is the hair color of your favorite author?
It’s great to meet you!
He must increase, but I must decrease.
February 21, 2023 at 11:56 am #133996Hi Sarah! I’m TheArcaneAxiom. I love math, physics, worldbuilding, conlanging, and many other nerdy things. I love to read and write SSF stories, and exploring themes of divine, fundamental truths of reality.
Questions!!!
What intrigues you about history?
You said you like mysteries, do you enjoy writing them? If so, how do you avoid the clichés, and make figuring out the big reveal actually surprising, but still make sense and feel fulfilling?
If you can be up for something, and down for something, and both of those means that you want to do that something, then what do you say when you don’t want to do that something?
He is perfect in Justice, yet He is perfect in Mercy, even when we fail Him. For this, He is good.

I’m Homeschooled too! As for my answers:
- Favorite ice cream flavor: Chocolate (I suppose I’m somewhat boring in that regard… though I did try coffee ice cream at one point and liked it)
- Current WIP: It’s a Sci-Fi story (or supposed to be, I’m struggling to implement the sci-fi bit) with a kid who… does something with asteroids. I’m kind of winging the plot. I’m making progress, though.
- Favorite Movies/TV Shows/Series: Probably Murder, She Wrote.
- Favorite Books/Authors: Anne of Green Gables. L.M. Montgomery. And the Mrs. Pollifax series by Dorthy Gilman (It’s an adult book series, but I like it).
- If I could master up to two languages they’d be: Spanish (which I’m already learning) and Welsh (I think it would be fun). An Honorable Mention is German, because it’d be fun to do the guttural sounds.
February 21, 2023 at 12:29 pm #134005@80strish Don’t I know you from somewhere? School, perhaps?
My favorite time period is either the 1830s or the 1890s; It’s so hard to pick!
My favorite kind of music is probably brass music, because I play a brass instrument, but I also like classical.
February 21, 2023 at 12:36 pm #134006Hello! I am E. M. Trepke (I guess you could call me Em sometimes?) I am also a Christian Homeschooler, but I am also a Canadian.
You enjoy mysteries? Have you read any of Agatha Christie’s then? Now for some random questions:
1) Coffee, tea, or hot cocoa?
2) Dogs or cats?
3) If you could choose any fictional person or thing to be real, who or what would it be?
God bless.
We're all stories in the end. Just make it a good on, eh?
-The DoctorFebruary 21, 2023 at 12:42 pm #134008I, also am a homeschooler with little-to-no drawing talent! And I like dogs, who doesn’t (rhetorical question)!?
- My favorite book series is unquestionably Anne of Green Gables.
- I normally like to write once or twice a week.
- I don’t play any sports, but I like doing crafts! Especially things like origami and carving. I have carved many substances, including wood, wax, and butter (when baking).
February 21, 2023 at 12:59 pm #134010I love your user name. It’s so cheerful! 🙂
I’m glad you like it! It (almost) shares the name of a song (Sara smile) that I like the tune of , but don’t know many words to.
My favorite day of the week is either Friday (I don’t make dinner Fridays), or Saturday (I make my weekly call to my grandparents Saturdays)
I have no idea what the hair color of L.M. Montgomery is, but typing this out I realize I’ve always pictured her with the same hair color as her most famous character, red.
February 21, 2023 at 1:19 pm #134012Oooh! I love Anne of green gables also! Have you read all 8? I have and I love them sooooo much! There also my first favorite right now, but as soon as I read or re-read another series it changes 🙂 Which one is your favorite? I really cant decide. Have you read the 3 little women books by Louisa May Alcott? If not you should try them, they are so good, probobly my #3 😀

February 21, 2023 at 2:07 pm #134013Welcome! I’m also a historical fiction author, with one book out in the world and more on the way. (my website is in my post signature if you want to take a look.) I haven’t read all the Mrs. Pollifax books, but I love the first one, The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax. I was extremely happy to get my own copy and mark up the language to my heart’s content. And I just finished up a Sherlock Holmes kick. I don’t think I’d do very well at writing mysteries, though; there’s too much to keep straight.
I’m not extremely active here, partly because I just joined and partly because it’s generally true that the most successful authors spend more time writing than they spend talking about writing online. But it’s great to have places where you can talk about your characters telling you what they want to do, and no one thinks you’re losing your mind. 🙂 I won’t ask too many questions because you’ve already fielded plenty, but I will ask my standard writer question: Are you a plotter, a pantser, or a tweener?

I’m Homeschooled too!
Epic!!! 😁 Homeschoolers unite!!! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Favorite ice cream flavor: Chocolate (I suppose I’m somewhat boring in that regard… though I did try coffee ice cream at one point and liked it)
Hey, chocolate is delicious! 😉 Coffee ice cream??? Interesting. 😅
Current WIP: It’s a Sci-Fi story (or supposed to be, I’m struggling to implement the sci-fi bit) with a kid who… does something with asteroids. I’m kind of winging the plot. I’m making progress, though.
Ooh…I like the sound of it already…even though I’m not normally a Sci-Fi fan…😂 But it sounds interesting! If you ever want to talk about it, I’d love to hear more about it! 🥰
Favorite Movies/TV Shows/Series: Probably Murder, She Wrote.
Never heard of it! 😅😉
Favorite Books/Authors: Anne of Green Gables. L.M. Montgomery. And the Mrs. Pollifax series by Dorthy Gilman (It’s an adult book series, but I like it).
Cool!!! And don’t worry, I read Adult/Young Adult books too. 😉
If I could master up to two languages they’d be: Spanish (which I’m already learning) and Welsh (I think it would be fun). An Honorable Mention is German, because it’d be fun to do the guttural sounds.
Ooh, I’m learning Spanish too!!! Welsh does sound like it’d be fun! And yesss…German is so much fun! 😂 I think if I had to chose 2 languages, it’d probably be German and Russian. 😉
February 21, 2023 at 2:50 pm #134026Heh, sorry to disappoint, I don’t have questions. HOWEVER, I do have comments. XD That’s not the same thing…but oh well.
Greetings and salutations! I’m Gwyndalf the Wise.
but you knew that already why am I doing this XDUh…I’m homeschooled too, I like reading well written historical fiction, and I write mysteries. But usually my mysteries are in a non-normal setting, my current ones are fantasy and the other is steampunk.
Current WIP: It’s a Sci-Fi story (or supposed to be, I’m struggling to implement the sci-fi bit) with a kid who… does something with asteroids. I’m kind of winging the plot. I’m making progress, though.
XD I’m having the same problem with my fanfiction, I want it to be steampunk but when I think about the characters they’re never in steampunk attire XD
Favorite Movies/TV Shows/Series: Probably Murder, She Wrote.
That was fun except for the slightly inappropriate episodes. XD The intro song always pops into my head when that is mentioned.
I’ve also read Anne of Green Gables. I need to reread all of them. Including the prequel.
I don’t play any sports, but I like doing crafts! Especially things like origami and carving. I have carved many substances, including wood, wax, and butter (when baking).
Oooo cool! I’ve always thought that carving things looked like fun, except knifes are involved. XD
Nice to meet you, and hope to see you around! =)
