By Elisabeth Sullivan
Promise me one memory,
One drop to hold and reap;
Grant to me one hopeful dream
As at last I fall asleep.
Let me cherish one simple time
When life was simpler well;
Give me one final faith to keep
Even if I should not tell.
For life is short, this truth resounds
Throughout this stormy gale;
And from the tongues of wiser men
Should we heed this threatening vale.
And should we have a melody
That comforts the distraught,
‘Ere we have found this holy ground
That many desperate sought.
To treasure such a hidden chest
Of hope beyond compare
Should share our utmost loyalty,
Our easy cross to bear.
In midnight and in morn,
Our thoughts should often rise
Yea, never-ceasing prayers reborn
As oft as we lift eyes.
And shall we let these things go by
Without so much as tear nor sigh?
Nay, let it not be said of us
That we had left our own to be,
Though it had been our sacred duty
And tied to this, our loyalties.
Do we leave our properties
To be squandered by the lowest means?
Why then do we abandon our cherished dreams
And toss them to the skies?
And thus our simple life is not always what we make,
(Though we like to assume control)
The steady Rock on which we stand shall never shake,
Nor quaver with it’s new-saved souls.
Elisabeth Sullivan is a 16-year old girl living with her parents and seven siblings with a love for creating things. She’s been writing short stories and the like since the age of eight and has a passionate love of reading and all things pertaining to words. Other than the tidbits she writes to antagonize her blog readers, she has started writing two different novels that are both in the works as of spring 2016. Outside of writing, Elisabeth loves to draw, crochet, sing, and basically try any hobby that has to do with developing ever-increasing creativity. She cherishes unrealistic and sometimes silly dreams, although the hope that she will one day become an author is not one of that sort.

Beautiful! I love it! Great job, Elisabeth!
I’m so glad you enjoyed reading it! 😀
Yes. This is very beautiful. It’s very simple also, which I really admire. I have difficulty with that. 😀
I have difficulties writing poems for the most part, but I’m very happy with the way this one turned out. I’m glad you do, too! 😀
Great job, Elisabeth! I love how smoothly it flows. 🙂

Thank you! 😀
Very lovely, Elisabeth!
Thank you so much! 😀
Also, the title is actually “Eternity Times/McKennaugh’s Poem”, but I forgot to add the latter part to the document’s title. Could that possibly be added? If not, that’s completely fine and don’t worry about it. 🙂
