      Hey, fellow writers!

I’m TheLoonyOne. I have mostly written fantasy short stories but just took a plunge into the deep end with a Novel-In-a-Semester class. It is a dystopian/romance, both of which are genres I haven’t written before. Other than writing, I also enjoy music, reading, and art. I can’t wait to keep writing for God’s glory with all of you.

Greetings and welcome to the Kingdom of Pen!

I’m called Elishavet around here, and I mostly write realistic medieval fantasy, with a touch on the allegorical. (So fancy, I know. šŸ˜‰ )

Your WorkInProgress sounds interesting! What is it about?

Also, short stories are awesome! I haven’t written many; in fact I think I’ve only written one, cowritten with my twin sister. Other than that, it’s just been random character sketches. (Which nay it may not be considered short stories. I don’t know.)

Ah, I love all those things too! What music do you like to listen to? What books do you read? And if course, do you make art? If so, in what media(s)?

I draw with traditional graphite, but I really want to try watercolor and ink.

Now is the time for some Random Asked the Newbie Questions!!!

        1. If you were trapped for a week in any fictional world, what would it be?
        2. Do you like pineapple on pizza?
        3. Which are better, cats or dogs?
        4. If you were to speak any language other than your native tongue, what would it be?
        5. Finally, what is the hair color of your favorite character. (Of your own making?)

Well then, see you around! God bless.

You have listened to fears, child. Come, let me breathe on you... Are you brave again? -Aslan

          @theloonyone Welcome to Kingdom Pen!

I am FreedomWriter76, often just referred to as Freedom here on KP, a Southern Christian Teen girl that has a passion for spreading the light of Christ through Historical Fiction. Oh, and I’m a huge History Buff and Marvel Nerd, but we won’t go there. šŸ˜‰

Like I said, I write Historical Fiction.

And Dystopian!? That’s anĀ epicĀ genre! šŸ˜€ Personally, I love it, even though I haven’t read any. (Except for currently trying to just GET THROUGH 1984…but I won’t recommend that book for content reasons…)

Now, for random ask the newbie questions!

          1. Favorite Music Artist?

          2. Favorite Dessert?

          3. Coffee, tea, or neither?

          4. Favorite Author?

          5. What is your favorite part about your WIP? (Without spoiling, I suppose. šŸ˜‰ )

And…6. If you could, would you rather have your favorite breed of horse for the rest of your life or ride your favorite type of dragon for the day?

I can’t wait to get to meet you some more! Welcome to Kingdom Pen, once again, and God Bless! šŸ™‚

                    Hi Elishavet!

My novel is actually based on a short story I wrote which is partly based on a Sims 4 ad that creeped me out. The main character, Milo Trone, spends a lot of his time in a simulation. His outside life (real life) feeds into his addiction to the simulation. He meets the female lead, Cammie Naihe, who also mostly lives in the simulation. They help each other to live off of it and in the real world. It wasn’t a romance at first, but I apparently have no control over my own story. It’s definitely a big commitment for me, writing in an unfamiliar genre and I’m supposed to finish it in a semester. I think I’m doing pretty well so far, though!

I haven’t written a lot of short stories, but the writing I do have is mostly that. I also have many half-written short stories (I’m a major procrastinator). What is a character sketch? I think I have an idea what it is, but I’m not sure.

I listen to a wide variety of music but mostly a lot of indie and classic rock. I also play the piano and clarinet and am learning the alto sax. I mostly read fantasy, but I love anything fictional. I have been practicing drawing and getting slowly better over the past two-ish years. I have done a little watercolor, and it is fun. You should definitely try it!

Random Newbie Questions, here we go!

                    1. I would have to go with Middle Earth, preferably during the Fourth Age when it will be it bit more peaceful. Anything Middle Earth is an absolute comfort book/movie/music to me.

                    2. Yes. Yes, I do like pineapple on my pizza. It’s just right.

                    3. I love them both, but I have to go with dogs.

                    4. … The real question is if I could speak it without actually having to learn it. I started learning both Spanish and Latin at some point but didn’t get past a year on either one. If I could easily learn a language, I would choose French. I have no reason, it’s just a really pretty language.

                    5. I actually haven’t created too many characters and the hair color is usually not something I think about a lot. One character I have, though, is Cammie Naihe, from the novel I’m writing. She has shoulder-length, super curly, brown hair.

Thank you for the kind greeting! I’ll see you around!

                      Hi! @Thelooneyone

Welcome to KP! We are happy to have you here! šŸ˜ƒ

I haven’t written short stories before, but it’s a really interesting genre. Imo it takes some real skill to fit character arcs and plot into a short story because well, it’s short. I write dystopian as well! My current WIP is dystopian, I hope to add a little romance… but It will take some time to work it out.

                      A couple of questions:

                      1. You like reading… any favorite books?

                      2. What kind of music do you like?

                      3. When you say you like art, do you mean you make art? (If so, we’d love to see some if you want to post under the art topic šŸ˜)

                      4. What’s your favorite character from your WIP and why?

                      5. What is the most outstanding theme of your WIP?

                      6.Ā  Favorite animal and why?

I canā€™t wait to keep writing for Godā€™s glory with all of you.

Same, and Looking forward to seeing you around! šŸ˜„

                        Hey Freedom!

I don’t read a lot of historical fiction, but when I do, I love it! It’s also great to see another Marvel Nerd.

Yup, dystopian. I have read a little and have written even less, so… it’s a little scary to be writing an entire novel in the genre. I’m making this up but in my mind, it’s kind of soft dystopian. Yeah, definitely making that up. It’s sci-fi, but there are obvious social problems. So, it’s not quite The Hunger Games or The GiverĀ (two that I have read)Ā level of dystopian, but it’s still dystopian.

                        Random Newbie Questions!

                        1. I don’t think I could ever choose a favorite. But if I were to pick a random one that I really enjoy, I’ll go withĀ The Black Keys. I listen to a lot of indie and classic rock.

                        2. Brownie Sunday. With chocolate drizzled on top (it’s even better if it’s a hard shell), sprinkles, and two maraschino cherries. Maybe three.

                        3. Tea. I’m drinking a mug of green tea right now.

                        4. Aah, this one goes with my favorite music artist, because I could never choose. However, if I had to I would always go to Tolkien.

                        5. Well, the climax probably or the very end. But I’m also planning a scene with a major air-hockey battle which I’m looking forward to.

                        6. Dragon. Definitely the dragon.

Thank you for the wonderful welcome, and I hope to talk more and see you around!

woops, forgot. Here’s my really long response, again.

                                Hi Elishavet!

                                  Hii!

I’ve pretty much only written short stories. It is definitely hard to fit all that good plot in there and a lot of the time I don’t succeed. I wasn’t intending to be writing a romance, but I apparently have no control over my own story and it just became a romance on its own. I don’t know what happened.

                                  1. Do I like reading? Yes, yes I do. I mostly read fantasy, but I love pretty much anything fictional.

                                  2. I listen to a wide variety but I can narrow it down to mostly indie and classic rock. I also play the piano.

                                  3. By art, I mean that I have been slowly learning how to draw over the past two years. Sometimes I dabble in other mediums, but mostly just a happy little plain pencil. And a lot of eraser.

                                  4. Does my favorite character change almost every other chapter that I write? Yes. Right now, though, I’m enjoying my character Grant Jeane. I’m writing the first chapter he is in right now, and absolutely love him.

                                  5. Oh boy. I haven’t really gone into the themes very much with anyone, so I might as well now. Milo, the main character spends most of his time in a simulation and is pretty much addicted to it. He meets Cammie, who is also addicted to the simulation. The two help each other to learn how to live outside of it. The basic theme is beating an addiction and not using it to run away from your life. On a more personal level, I’ve pictured the simulation as this life and the real world in the novel as heaven. Do things that happen in the simulation affect the real world? Yup. If you go back to my explanation at the beginning of the answer with this in mind you might see what I have been thinking. So… there. šŸ™‚

                                  6. I’ve recently been giving the chicken as my answer to that question. Not because I love it all that much but because sometimes when I laugh I sound like a chicken and I should try and keep some consistency with my answer.

Thank you for the kind greeting and I also hope to see you around!
