We have some BIG goals, ideas, and dreams for Kingdom Pen, and we wanted to create a place where you can see our ideas, give your feedback, and share your ideas.

Kingdom Pen is here for YOU, and we want to make it the best it can possibly be.

Below you'll find a list containing projects and features that will be coming to Kingdom in the near future.

Below that, you'll also find a list of unscheduled ideas and dreams for the future of Kingdom Pen. We may never achieve some of these, or we may decide not to pursue them in the future...

But we wanted to just go ahead and dump all of our ideas, and the great ideas KeePer's have come up with, on this page.

Feel free to let us know what you think in the comments section at the bottom of this post.

Other Near Future Items

[Unscheduled]

  • Publishing new videos on the Kingdom Pen Cinema YouTube Channel
  • More frequent content publishing get you more great writing education
  • More downloadable guides and checklists to help make your writing life easier
  • More fun community-based projects, like contests, a collaborative novel, and treasure hunts.

Far Future Ideas & Dreams

More Publishing Formats

Right now you can submit short stories, poetry, and articles for potential publication on Kingdom Pen. We'd like to expand this greatly.

Some of our ideas for the types of content you could submit include:

  • Serial novels
  • Artwork or illustrations (to be used in posts on Kingdom Pen)
  • Educational videos (to be uploaded to our YouTube channel)
  • Films (documentaries or narratives)
  • Music (to be used in KP videos or podcasts)

Kingdom Kronicle Newspaper

What if Kingdom Pen had it's own newspaper? After all, Kingdom Pen is all about creating better stories, and journalism also involves creating a narrative out of available facts.

This wouldn't be a physical newspaper (unless you wanted it to be), but perhaps a periodical PDF, or even a separate website if it grew large enough and there was enough demand.

The Kingdom Kronicle could potentially cover...

  • Writing industry news
  • Christian publishing news
  • Kingdom Pen Community news (books published, forum topics, etc.)
  • Fictional stories involving or expanding on "The Kingdom Of Pen" lore
  • Interviews with KeePers
  • Humorous Babylon Bee style parody articles
  • Comics
  • World news/events and how they impact Christian creatives

KP Author's Store/Database

Wouldn't it be cool if we could have a list/database on Kingdom Pen that contained all the books that had been published by followers of Kingdom Pen so you could easy support your fellow KeePers, and find great new books to read?

Wouldn't it be great to have your book promoted on Kingdom Pen? That's what this idea is all about.

Live Kingdom Pen Workshop (Kingdom Pen Con?)

What if Kingdom Pen could put on it's own conference/workshop?

You could meet fellow KeePer's in person, learn from great speakers, and get your stories critiqued in small critique groups.

Think of it kinda like college for Christian authors condensed into a week or weekend.

If you're familiar with the One Year Adventure Novel Summer Workshop, this would be similar to that, but unique to Kingdom Pen.

Kingdom Pen Radio

We had Kingdom Pen Radio in the past, hosted by Daniel Thompson before he decided to go independent. We'd like to bring this back and make it bigger and better than ever before!

If you don't know, Old Kingdom Pen Radio was a podcast that consisted of interviews with writers. New Kingdom Pen Radio would be a little different.

Rather than one podcast, we'd like to have several. Just like a radio station will have different types of shows hosted by different people, we'd like to do the same with Kingdom Pen radio.

Here are some of the different potential podcast/audio ideas we have so far:

  • Article to Audio Format: We would simply read the articles on Kingdom Pen so you can consume the content on the go, or while you're doing other things.
  • Discussion Format: People from the Kingdom Pen team and/or community would come on to the show to discuss different aspects of writing.
  • Interview Format: Much like the Old Kingdom Pen Radio, we could have a show were different authors and writing authorities come on the show to share their secret knowledge.
  • Short Story And/Or Poetry Format: We could also have a separate podcast just for reading the short stories or poems that have been published on Kingdom Pen. We could even make these more of an auditory experience by adding music and sound effects that match the setting or action in the story or poem.
  • Novel As Audiobook Format: Once we start publishing serial novels, we could take that novel and turn it into an audio book, and then publish it as a podcast chapter by chapter.
  • Audio Drama Format: Think Adventure's In Odyssey, or Radio Theater Drama. This would be audio dramas complete with unique scripts written by KeePers, voice acted by KeePers, and sound edited by KeePers. I don't know about you, but I think this would be sweet!

Kingdom Pen Publishing House/Record Label

We at Kingdom Pen believe that traditional publishing is going the way of the dinosaurs. It's VERY HARD to make any kind of decent income with traditional publishing.

Even if you do traditionally publish, publishers (and you) will want you do some marketing and audience-building on your own.

So why not just self-publish and keep more of the money from your sales if you're going to have to audience/platform-build yourself?

The downside of self-publishing? It takes A LOT of work, and you have to wear a lot of different hats, from editor, to advertiser, to graphic designer, and more.

What if Kingdom Pen could bridge the gap between traditional publishing and self-publishing and give you the best of both worlds?

Enter, Kingdom Pen Publishing!

We could provide you with people, resources, and built-in readership to help you jumpstart your author career, while you keep 100% of the profits.

We don't know exactly what this will look like, but it would probably resemble a contractor/coaching relationship.

You could purchase a publishing package that would involve getting your story professionally edited, designed, printed, and launched with a robust advertising and marketing campaign behind it so you would be guaranteed to make sales.

But rather than JUST doing everything for you (giving you a fish), you would also get to see behind the scenes of everything we do so you could learn how to do it yourself with your next release (teaching you how to fish).

This also wouldn't just have to be restricted to authors, but could apply to music artists as well (hence the record label potential).

At least that's what we're thinking right now. Would you like Kingdom Pen to launch a publishing wing? If so, what would you like it to look like?

Christian Creative Social Media Platform

This could basically be the Kingdom Pen forum on steroids. Maybe a combination of Facebook, LinkedIn, and Dribble all in one place.

The goal would be to help connect Christian creatives so that we can help support, promote, and encourage one another.

Say you're an author who needs an editor, graphic designer, and maybe you want a cool book trailer video created. You could connect with all of these people on this platform, and you would also know that they are likeminded and share a similar worldview.

The graphic designer you decide to collaborate might find a photographer or digital artist on the platform and use some of their art to create the cover for your book.

The video creator you hire might do the same, and also use some music as the soundtrack from musicians on the platform.

Maybe you find some other authors in the same genre as you and you decide to collaborate by reviewing each other's books to your readers. Not only would you be supporting a fellow Christian author, but you would be potentially getting a bunch of new readers yourself!

This would unite Christian creatives so that we could not only support one another, but we would create a synergy that would enable us, with God's help, to start taking back the culture for Christ.

A Physical Retreat Center/Campus

What if we could build our very own writer's retreat center/campus for the Kingdom Pen community?

This is a SUPER ambitious dream, that honestly, probably will never become a reality. But hey, with God, all things are possible.

So what am I talking about here? It would be a combination of "Whit's End" from Adventures in Odyssey, Summit Ministries in Manitou Springs, Colorado, The One Year Adventure Novel Workshop...

Multiplied by 1,000.

This is basically my (Reagan) ultimate dream. Some people want to be movie stars or professional athletes (nothing wrong with that); I want to build Christian geek heaven.

Most likely, this would be built in Southwest Florida because that's where we live, and the weather is amazing.

It would be a hub, a home-base for Christian creatives where they can come to be equipped, refreshed, and rejuvenated so they can jump back into their creative pursuits with renewed fervor and skill.

Here's what it could include:

Writing Rooms & Nooks

What's a writing retreat center without cozy rooms to write in? This center would have PLENTY of them.

Not only would these rooms and nooks be complete with comfortable seating, soundproofing, and plenty of outlets for charging and other electronics, but these rooms could also be themed.

Ever wanted to write your book in a hobbit hole like Bilbo? Just reserve one of our hobbit hole rooms. Oh look, it even includes complementary tea, coffee, and snacks.

But what's that? You say you're writing a sci-fi novel? Maybe you should reserve our Millennium Falcon, Hoth Base, or Battlestar Bridge themed rooms.

We could have rooms and nooks covering all kinds of genres and decorating styles so that you would be assured of finding a room that suits you. Maybe we would even have rooms that changed month to month.

Nooks would be small, and super cozy, great for cranking out 10,000 words in an afternoon.

Rooms would be a little larger, great for writing with friends, whether you're working on a novel together, or you want to word war.

Library

Obviously, we would HAVE to have a library. I'm thinking something old-timey and classy with those rolling ladders. Or maybe this library would have different sections themed to fit the different types of books it includes.

Of course, we would have a section just for books published by KeePer's, and it would also include all of the best books on writing, publishing, and building a creative career.

You'll also be sure to find plenty of comfortable chairs and sofas for reading in. Just be careful to not fall under its spell and never leave or get any writing done!

Auditorium

Remember that Kingdom Pen conference I mentioned above? Well, this campus could also include an auditorium so that we could host our conference here!

But hey, there's a lot of other things you can do with an auditorium. We could have plays and concerts here too, performed and written by KeePers.

Cafe/Diner/Soda Parlor

Of course, you're not going to want to leave this place, but inevitably, you're going to get hungry, and the complimentary snacks in the writing rooms isn't going to be enough to sustain you.

That's why we have a Cafe/Diner/Soda Parlor.

I'm not sure if we would have all of these in one building, or in separate buildings, but we definitely need to have all three.

At the cafe you can get your yummy beverages and snacks that you need to fuel your creativity and writing.

If it turns out you're going for 20,000 words in one day, you're going to need a break for lunch, where you can walk into a cozy vintage/retro-futuristic-themed diner where you can choose from a variety of healthy food items sourced from local farmers.

After you've finished your writing, you'll definitely need a reward, so you head to the soda parlor to get an ice cream cone, or maybe float made from a novelty soda.

You sit at the bar and chat with your best friends who you met through the Kingdom Pen website about the incredible progress you made on your novel, and they help you come up with ideas for what should happen next.

Afterwards, you sit down in front of a TV and fire up the Nintendo to play some Mario Kart or Smashbros with your friends.

Inn

It's been a full day, and you got A TON accomplished! You're starting to wonder why you thought writing was so hard. But you're tired, and it's time to turn in.

But you don't have to go far because we have an on-campus inn, again, with themed rooms that you can stay in.

You walk across the gorgeous campus as the sun sets over the gulf, painting the sky in pastel colors.

You enter your room, and you're greeted by the comforting Rivendell design. You get ready for bed and then fall into the most comfortable bed you've ever felt as you admire the mural on the wall that makes it feel like you're overlooking a waterfall.

You almost can't fall asleep thinking about all the incredible things you're going to do the next day!

Recording Studio

Though you've made great progress on your book, which happens to be a sequel, your readers are demanding an audio book.

So book a time slot to record your novel in audio book format in the recording studio. It has all the professional equipment, mics, and acoustic treatment you need to create a professional audiobook.

We even have a couple of in-house professional audiobook readers whom you could enlist to record your audiobook for you.

Or maybe you're also a music artist and you want to record some vocals, or write some new music. Come right in!

Oh, you're working on an audio drama now? You can record that here too.

Art & Design Studio

Are you an artist too? Jump into our art studio where you have all the art supplies you need.

Or hop on one of our design computers where you have access to Photoshop, Illustrator, and all the professional design software you need to great beautiful album covers, graphics, or illustrations.

Film Studio

Are you a filmmaker? Come shoot your film in our studio, complete with professional cameras, gear, green-screen, and props.

Year Round Classes

Each of these rooms would also hold classes year round. So if you don't know anything about recording, filmmaking, art, or design, but you want to learn, you can sign up for a class and get a crash course so when you return home, you know enough to make it work.

Gardens

Being in southwest Florida, you know that this campus is going to have beautiful botanical gardens.

If you get stuck on your story, just go for a stroll through the tropical gardens and let the sun warm you and great ideas will start coming to you in no time!

Recreation Center

Another key tool to get the creativity flowing is physical exercise, which is why the Kingdom Pen campus also has a recreation center!

At the rec center you'll find a gym, pool, and basketball court. Everything you need to stay fit and keep the mental juices flowing.

Discipleship Program

It would also be amazing to have a discipleship program, much like the Ellerslie and Summit Ministries in Colorado, where you can learn from the best Christian teachers.

Not only would you be able to sign up to learn and train to be more like Christ, but you would be educated on the culture war, and all the competing worldviews that exist, and how they fall short and can be combated.

With this discipleship, not only will be equipped to be a better writer for Christ, but you'll be equipped to live a better life in general.

Shuttle Service

We would also have a complementary shuttle service. Need transportation too and from the airport? No problem!

Want to head to the beautiful beaches? We'll take you there and back!

Scholarships & Staff Opportunities

We know all of this can be expensive. The travel, the food, the education, but we would also have various opportunities to allow you to experience all of this at very low cost.

We would have scholarship opportunities which would help cover expenses.

We would also have many staff positions that would need filled. You could get a job working at the cafe, cleaning the writing rooms, or overseeing one of the studios. This would enable you stay on campus for months at a time if you wished, sort of like college, enabling you take part in all of the amazing resources, programs, and classes.

Charity

It would also be amazing to take a portion of the profits from this center and give it to charities that help the abused, poor, widows, orphans, and the unborn.

This would be just one more way we would all be working together to help advance God's Kingdom here on Earth.

Wouldn't this be absolutely amazing?

I don't know about you, but I think this would be absolutely amazing! It almost sounds too good to be true, and hey, maybe it is. Or maybe we could at least build something close to this one day. Only God knows.

Regardless, if you like this idea, or any of the other ones on this list, then we just want to ask for your support so we can make these a reality!

You can support us and this vision simply by spreading the word about Kingdom Pen and continuing to improve as a storyteller.
