So I’m going to go out on a limb here and start my own first topic… How many of you wordsmiths out there have wondered just how big your vocabulary is? Especially when compared to the rest of the… less linguistically gifted population. I did a fair bit of research on this a while back for an article I did on another blog, and I happened to stumble across this test.

      http://testyourvocab.com/

I took ones on several different sites that gave me scores ranging from 12 to 25 thousand words, and this one was by far the most thorough. Any thoughts?

That’s really neat. I’m not a wordsmith but I like tests like this. My result was β€˜Your total vocabulary size is estimated to be: 26,500 words.’

Congrats for your own topic. πŸ˜€

              Apparently I’m average. =P

Apparently I’m an idiot. I find that spectacular. It means I don’t have the option of seeming intelligent at the expense of my listeners.

@aratrea According to my knowledge of vocabulary, she seems to be wanting a refund on the course now that she knows our true intelligence.

@aratrea You’re not average. @daeus You’re not an idiot (especially since you can formulate such clever, sarcastic comebacks). Case closed. πŸ˜›

@daeus A person can measure as an idiot in one category and a genius in another. A single test does not (can not) determine either. So I’m with @kate-flournoy and @theliterarycrusader; you can not accurately claim the title of idiot. My apologies. πŸ™‚

                              Oh and I got a fantabulous 21,800. πŸ™‚

Ice cream???? I’d rather have limitless ice cream supplies than good vocabulary! πŸ˜‰

I’m below average, but since I’m not an β€œadult” yet, I guess I’m doing okay. I’m going to have my family take this test though πŸ˜€
