So I’m going to go out on a limb here and start my own first topic… How many of you wordsmiths out there have wondered just how big your vocabulary is? Especially when compared to the rest of the… less linguistically gifted population. I did a fair bit of research on this a while back for an article I did on another blog, and I happened to stumble across this test.

    http://testyourvocab.com/

I took ones on several different sites that gave me scores ranging from 12 to 25 thousand words, and this one was by far the most thorough. Any thoughts?

That’s really neat. I’m not a wordsmith but I like tests like this. My result was ‘Your total vocabulary size is estimated to be: 26,500 words.’
    Neato.
Congrats for your own topic. 😀

Ooooh, how fascinating! Thanks for sharing, Sierra! My result was 31,900. 🙂 The dictionary and thesaurus have always been two of my favorite books. 😉

    25,400 words.

    Apparently I’m average. =P

Apparently I’m an idiot. I find that spectacular. It means I don’t have the option of seeming intelligent at the expense of my listeners.

@Aratrea @Daeus sorry, not buying it. From either of you. XD

@aratrea According to my knowledge of vocabulary, she seems to be wanting a refund on the course now that she knows our true intelligence.

    *siiiiiigh* Don’t listen to him.

@aratrea You’re not average. @daeus You’re not an idiot (especially since you can formulate such clever, sarcastic comebacks). Case closed. 😛

@daeus A person can measure as an idiot in one category and a genius in another. A single test does not (can not) determine either. So I’m with @kate-flournoy and @theliterarycrusader; you can not accurately claim the title of idiot. My apologies. 🙂

    Oh and I got a fantabulous 21,800. 🙂

@winter-rose Ok, I guess I’ll have to take your word for it. 😥 After all, I am a genius in finding limitless ice cream supplies…😊😊😊

Ice cream???? I’d rather have limitless ice cream supplies than good vocabulary! 😉

I’m below average, but since I’m not an “adult” yet, I guess I’m doing okay. I’m going to have my family take this test though 😀
